Yes its not a typo, theres a new 182 Clio on the way according to Carpages.

Unfortunately I will not be ordering one (see umpteen threads about my super-unreliable 172) as i have just ordered a black Leon Cupra R 225 !!!!!

Talking of Renault reliability - a mate at works Megane was off the road for several weeks waiting for a new wiring loom. The main dealer lent him a new spec Scenic whilst his was in for repair. When the mechanic came to collect the Scenic he couldn't start it and had to call the AA Three out of six of the Meganes on our fleet have had replacement coils.

Cheers,

Ian.

I've said it before but it is worth repeating. Spend any time around the average worker at Renaults plants and you'll realise why the cars are so variable.
They'll routinely drink 1/2 ltr of wine at lunch, have a similar kind of mentality to 70's BL workers and generally not give a stuff about anything other than their pay packet. Great if you work there but not so good if you are some poor brit left with one of their "Friday afternoon" cars.

Please don't think that Renault are alone, unfortunately it sums up most manufacture these days. The average shopfloor worker is treated like dirt so all they're gonna worry about is the home time whistle and their small pay packets. If a car gets returned due to poor manufacture it ain't their problem.

A saying about paying peanuts springs to mind too......

a friend of mine works for a renault dealer, he said the reason that theyre so unreliable is that renault use us as a 'proving ground' for about 6 months before theyre released on the continent, so if any problems appear( and invariably they do) they can sort them out and not upset our gallic cousins when the cars released there!

Not wanting to contradict the post above but I live in France and see the newer models on the road way before they appear in England (generally that is!)

Aren't the cars made by robots these days? Maybe they don't work so well after 1/2 bottle of wine for lunch?

Unfortunately (as yet) you can't just shove parts in one end and out pops a product the other. Somewhere along the line there'll be a pissed off, demotivated employee who would have had 1/2 bottle of wine for lunch

Have to agree with Nacro, we're usually the LAST country to receive new models of car....

It's been "retro fitted" then as they leave the factory without one!

Check with Renault yourself if you dont't believe me, tell them you want to see the technical note for the Clio Cup model dated July 2002 which clearly states the link is NOT meant to be fitted. Go into any Renault dealer and get them to pull it up on the ACTIS system and show you...

Speak to your dealer then...

After seeing the repair the dealer did on his leaky roof panel/ rear pillar seams I doubt that would be a good idea ...

LOL

Not the best lot in the world eh?!

It's very likely that a mechanic spotted the link was missing, knew that it was fitted on a 172, so decided that is should be on the Cup too and fitted one.

This has happened to some cars on ClioSport...

I'm trying to talk him into removing it and going out to do some serious 140mph emergency braking manouvers, just to see if it makes a difference
