driving my elise this morning, stopped at some lights, just waiting in the inside lane when this bmw z3m coupe pulled along side me, this thing looked bloody wide at the back so i thought it might be quite fast, decided to try my luck so when the lights turned green i went for it, and OMG the thing just took off by the time i hit 60 he was out of sight nearly i almost felt as though i was going backwards and my elise does 0-60 in 5.9sec but this thing must be a sub 4.5 sec. anyone know anything about this car? it looked amazing

Yes, and I lost. Kept him honest to about 80 but he pulled away, over the ton he completely mullered me (sti7 standard)

matt, that was me i think, was by hampton court about 10.00am was it you? must say i used to have an elise and are great cars but justs lack the power in a straight line, great round bends though.
the m coupe has amazing performance and i have not come aross anything yet that would beat me.

Easily beat one I had a played with in my old cozzy a few years ago. We ended up at traffic light and had a long chat to each other(very slow lights) about power, modifications and radar detectors funnily enough, he was a nice chap
Cue the usual thread derailment.. I know which I would prefer to own.. /sigh

M Coupe V UK Wagon with scooby ECU in the wet...........
you all know the result- one pissed off M driver- that said I've had a few runs with M coupes in the dry and I didn't stand a chance. I don't think they have any form of electronic traction control and the driver obviously can't control his right foot properly as he was fishtailing up the autoroute trying to catch me.
I also like the way they look unlike everyone else.

the older model pre 01 had no form of traction control, and is a handful in the wet to say the least, i have an 02 model which has dsc fitted as standard, but its still a handful, im not saying its the fastest thing around but what is nice about it is that a lot of people on the road dont know what it is or how much power it has, they think it is just a z3 with a hardtop, and its nice to see their faces when i put my right foot down

IMHO it outclasses the Z3 by a massive margin in terms of looks, rarity and according to the magazines I've read handling too. Didn't it win top gears's handling test a few yrs ago?
I think they are seriously cheap these days for what you get and in another 10 yrs will be very collectable like all good BMW's.
Does the DSC dumb down the handling/lairiness factor?

Oh yeah - Its the fastest trainer in the world.
In comparison, the roadsters handle like **** but look better just admit it!
And same engine-same speed.
Anyone care to photoshop an MCoupe to put a Nike tick or Reebok sign on it?

That's the whole thing about the //M. It's controversial. I think BMW were pretty brave to produce it. To some it's ugly, to others it's a bat mobile. To me it's viscous and has f**k-off styling, that's why I like it

Personally I think it looks cooooool. Batmobile is one way of putting it, especially in black. A future classic.
