Anyone many experiences? I've driven a newer shape 1.8T but felt it lacking in grunt. So maybe look at 2.5 diesel or V6 models.

Possibly will look at the slightly older A6 too as budget is restrained to about £5/6k.

It may need to tow a trailer with a westy on it so I guess it has to be the v6 or diesel.

My Father had a 2.5V6 TDI quattro until recently (traded it in for a Merc E270 CDI).

It had 180bhp and 273 lb/ft. It wasn`t mega fast but 50-70 was quite fun! Build was excellent and all it needed in the 50,000 miles he had it were 3 services (it was on Audi`s V.S.I. variable service intervals), tyres(2 sets) and some brake pads(one set).

All in all a good car if you can find one at a specialist who isn`t asking Audi main dealer prices for it.

I think you will struggle to find a decent (not huge miles) current shape V6-engined A6. No chance for one with quattro at £5/6k unless you go to the Audi 100 shaped generation.

You could always get a 1.9 TDi A6 and get it chipped/remapped as its torque that matters for towing ? My A4 TDi Quattros were excellent cars really but a bit dull in the final analysis.
