I think they look bloody tough in the rear view mirror.
I saw another unmarked rozzer in one behind me today. Resisted the temptation to punish him, as I did once before
Be warned - the rozzers have loads of them...

I doubt that you'll regret it.
I still find it hard to believe that the 4x4 version is so detuned at 150bhp that my car can have 220bhp from a simple £500 Jabba remap without any side effects. The 180 vRS is typically putting out 225-235 before decats etc.
See how many Audi bits you can find on it when you pick it up. All the mechanicals, electronics and a lot of fittings.

Had a good look around Briskoda.net very impressed with the comments on there. It's amazing that you can do to the RS tuning wise.
Some of the guys on there regularly go on track days and they can slap most of the cars on track out braking and handling 300+bhp Scoobs, making them look quite ordinary, is this true. One dude (Tavia RS) says he goes on Scooby meets and there are red faces all round.

Moi? Nah, its just a slow 1.4 16V
So far its done 115,000 miles (it was 2 years old yesterday) including 10,258 track miles.
So far only things which have broken are:
Couple of coilpacks (std VAG complaint)
Temp sensor
Fan motor
2x nsf wheel bearings
1x osf wheel bearing
All warranty claims
Love it!

Deffo hot air. Everyone knows mine is very slow.
As for the tunability, yes you can tune them, limit of the std internals is about 400. There is a Swedish one running 450 IIRC Tuning is relatively cheap eg to get to 350 costs about £3k, so its not that bad really.
Suspension, about £800
Brakes, between £800 and £1600 depending on what you go for.
That's it, sorted Tuning for the RS is identical in terms of cost and results as the 4x4 (hatch and estate).
Oh and you get the satisfaction of winding people up with a Skoda

Tavia,
I've been offered a WRC in white (no stickers) £15250 with all the bits looks stunning don't know about the white wheels. Anything I should look for?
The Scoob just dosen't do it for my any more almost tame in comparison to some so i'm very tempted.

I would say that its a different beast to the scoob - probably seeming 'flatter' in standard form due to the torque curve. However, look at the speedo needle and youll see its not slow! Also a Jabba remap is said to do wonders.
Mines a std black vRS hatch and I completely love the car as its perfect for me. Its quick enough, economical enough (just under 35mpg average over last 3000 miles on Optimax), practical enough with decent sized boot and a good all rounder.
The white "rally edition" ones are nice with xenon lights and other extras too and I like the wheels in white on white. People will think youre a copper in the mirror though - maybe youll like that?
Havent yet taken mine on track but will be sometime..

If you get the mindset that the (remapped) Octavias are sort of a more refined Impreza Classic or a sportier Audi (for a lot less money) and you're pretty much there.
Not raw or madly exciting, but about the best all round combination I've had in a car. (Including 3 Imprezas, 2 Legacies, 2 A4 Quattros, and a GT4 Celica)
