Help re Clio head gasket.

Living in Brum and girlfiends Clio 1.2 has blown it's head gasket - the car is a bit of a heap but otherwise running well.
How much would it take to repair and does anyone know of any cheap garages in Birmingham that would repair it without ripping me off.Also is there likely to be any other problems which would mean we should scrap the car.
