Question

X5 D or petrol...?
The wife is desperate for an X5, it will not do alot of mileage
so fuel consumpsion is not an issue, although it would be usefull to know what the mpg is, also servicing intervals.
I was wondering about performance and reliability as i know absolutly nothing about them having never owned a BMW. So any tips or buying advice would be very much apreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jason, about to become skint...
Anything for a quiet life ehh.

The most sought-after model is the 3.0d Sport so from a depreciation point of view, this is the best one to go for.

X5 d Sport is the best X5 (4.6is excepted), try them both and see, diesel far more effortless and much, much better resale.
I have driven one and was bowled over by it.

Make sure you buy the 'Sport' model, this is the most important tip with X5's.

The 3.0d is the way to go. If you`re buying new be prepared for a wait unless you`ve found a cancelled order. I agree with Mr Peru, the sport package is worth it.

Jason,
I buy and sell cars like the X5 for a living, the 3.0 Diesel is the one to go for without a doubt! Resale will be much higher than the petrol and i am taking thousands rather than hundreds of pounds!
Your best bet is to order a brand new one if you can stretch to it but be carefull because a face lifted model is due out soon!
Hope this helps

Cool

Jason H,

check this out:

[bmw x5 site]

drop me an email if you want to know anything about them... after all, there are around 20 or 30 of them in the road under me right now (and no I am NOT a dealer).
