Lo peeps,
Having some trouble with my wee sisters car atm
Engines running very ruff on idle and loss of power when driving it.
It's a 1997 P reg.
It "feels" like its runnning on three cyliders or the cats goosed.
Had the CAT cheked and it is not that.
Had it in to a Peugot dealers and they say it's running on all 4 cylinders.
I checked the plugs and all seems fine, no discolouration on any one plug.
Dealers cant pin point what the problem is and wants to start trying different parts on a trial and error basis.
He recommended changing the MAP sensor and the coil packs firstly.
But you know what some dealers are like, they would change the sensor and coil packs, and keep the new ones on the car even if it didn't fix the problem.
Theres an oil leak from the rocker cover gasket which hasn't been cleaned for a while, so it's realy needing the engine cleaned too.
Are there any sensors that could get clogged up with a rocker cover oil leak that would give the problems described above?
Thanks in advance
Scoty

Sounds like the problems I had...
The lambda sensor goes for a burton first (common fault), plus the MAP sensor can go too, then if not rectified it f*cks the cat up as the car runs excessively rich!
Mine had all three of these go wrong about a week after I bought it (18 months old) and it lost all power and died one day.
Also had a coil pack fail, but that was because it got very wet and shorted out, however they can just fail.
Having said that I loved the thing!

Thanks guy's, that is a good help
Anyone got any links so I can visualy see were the MAP sensor and lambda sensors are on the car.
Thinking about cleaning the engine, then cleaning up the sensors with electrical cleaning spray and see if it helps.
I know if has worked with cleaning MAF's on Imprezas?
Thanks in advance

The Lambda sensor is mounted in the exhaust downpipe, so that's easy to find.
The MAP sensor is mounted to the left on the black plastic cover with 16V printed on it, at the rear of the engine bay and screws into the side of this piece. Pretty easy to spot.
Once done, do an ECU reset.

Yeah as Rich says the Lamda sensor is a big common fault with them. Had the same prob with mine. Oil from rocker cover gasket is pretty normal for them really. As for cleaning the engine bay down. If your going to use a presure washer, DO NOT spray the rocker cover, or it will run like a bag of **** for the rest of the day, misfiring like a good un.
Hope that helps...

Cause the coil pack to short out, f*ck it and need a new one at £170 +VAT!!!
I did this, but got warranty to pay for it!
