In a sensible moment with a wedding in years time, I've just sold my Scoob and bought a Pug 306 XSi.
The 2.0 8v engine is ok, but it's a little more!!!
So the question is what can I do???
Does anyone have any bits for a 306 kicking about their garage they want rid of?

What year Andy? I’ve gone from MY98 to a 99 306 Gti-6 and good riddance to the Impreza, the only thing I miss is the sound IMHO (sorry guys). I wouldn’t bother with the engine too much mate… but a Peugeot Sport de-cat system is good for 10-15 bhp (loud though) and a Peugeot Sport replacement filter only 2-3 bhp, but will free the engine up a bit. Other than that get some Gti-6 brakes, they are fantastic. The chassis is great but a Bilstein and Eibach set-up is proven in the Pug world. Leave the 15’s on or you’ll upset the handling. Generally the xsi ‘does what it says on the tin’

Ben,
It's a phase 1, but being a tart I should be getting some phase 2 rear clusters and a Momo steering wheel soon!
The phase 2 headlights, bonnet, grill and bumper *may* be done later!
Thanks for the links, I dare say I'll be spending a little time on those sites!!!
First thing I noticed, the headlights are SO much better than the Scoob!!!
Cheers

Just remember to to brake heavily into a corner as they do tend to spin. Do they still have that irritating PIN keypad for security ??
In the wet with really good tyres they can crack on nicely..

I love the handling on the chassis!
I use to have a Citreon ZX Furio 1.8 8v, so this is a little step up from when I was 21!!!
My ZX with a set of front lowering springs use to handle better than the MY97 with Prodrive suspension I replace it with!!
I've noticed the front disks are slightly warped, so I now have to decide whether to replace them with cheap ones from say GSF/ECP (£12 ) or go for uprated items!!!
I'm really happy I made the swap the 306 is so much more 'chuckable' than the big heavy Scoob!!! OK it lacks the straight line stuff, but that can be fixed with NOS!!!

I agree with some of the comments on the Gti-6, I have a gold 99T one as our daily communting car (as opposed to my Pulsar) and the balanced fluency of the handling is fantastic, i'm sure the Xsi can't be that far off either. And when taking it very easy (!?) the mpg is pretty good too, so much that I will be using mine to cover 100 miles a day next year!

To change the rear lights the wiring is different Are you aware of that? My sister bought a set for hers when she was going to do it to look like a later one but when I went to fit the lights the loom is different.
The handling is alot of fun on the old xsi with the lift off oversteer that WWSD mentioned stick it into a bend lift off, opposite lock, hold it there, power out not that I have ever tried that on my neighbours old car
Lowering these if that's your bag is cheap because it has torsion bars on the rear so only requires new front springs then you just adjust the bars at the rear

Cheers guys.
Paul, you can get a loom adapter that coverts them. They are normally supplied with Lexus style lights (which are not my bag)
Bobby, I said 306 not a Nova!!!

On ebay they are £11.95 when you buy a set of Lexus style lights, I was going to offer them £20 for the adapters and see what they say!
If I find an easy way of doing it, be it using an adapter or easy modification, I'll drop you a mail!
