My wife is after a new car to see through the next few years, at the moment her car is a mk.II golf driver and sge loves it dearly, but its 92 so time to move on a bit.
Initial thoughts are with a Honda civic, about 96/7 3 door hatch.
She doesnt want a long list of letters after the name, maybe just a 1.4 or a 1.6 will do nicely.m possibly fuel injected although it wont be a major consideration.
What do you guys reckon? What sort of prices do these sorts of cars attract? Other cars to consider? wheres the best place to find good value examples? Have you owned/do own one, could you give us some insight?
Thanks in advance

Andy.........(& the wife)

I'd say it would be an excellent buy, all Civics from around then are fuel injection 16 valves, even the base 1.4 non-vtec is sprightly for what it is.

They also come well loaded with kit - pas, electric windows, mirrors + sunroof as std. and a fair few have air-con too.

Rock solid reliability, most have full honda service history so don't bother with one's that haven't.

Only downside is they are a bit expensive to buy, but for the scenario you've described I don't think there's much that can better them.

for a 96/97 1.4/1.6 civic u dont really want to be paying more than 3k and that's with around 70-80k....
u can get VTI's for 4k and under nowadays...
