I am thinking of buying a cheapish runaround, the criteria as follows :-

costs under £5k
Very reliable
lowish mileage
Cheapish to insure and run but under 10 secs 0 - 60
will sit 4 at a push but more the space for moving things about rather than people
fairly neutral image

I was thinking the old shape Honda Civic fits the bill but has anyone got any other suggestions (please no Fords cos I already know about their range) ?

Whats the difference between the models ?

Nissan Almera GTi. It meets all your requirements (although the rear strut brace makes big loads a little ackward). I had one for two years and it was a great car. Quite a few people on here seam to rate them as well. Here

Let us know if you want any more info.

Cheers

Steve.
