Was going to get economical little hatch to do my commute but found I couldn't fit in a 205 (I'm 6 foot 2)
Anyway flicking through the small ads and came across a G reg 735 with 155k on the clock for £1000!
Hmmm thinks I luxury is far better than economy!
I think it will do about 20mpg if I'm careful and servicing doesn't look too bad but I've got a feeling it could turn in to a money pit.

Anybody had one? Plus points? Things to worry about?
Basically should I buy the ultimate pimp wagon?

Mark

Buy it, even if something major goes wrong your only talking about 1K anyway- plus make them a lower offer to start with.

I like them but they are not cheap to run. Expect some of the toys to be broken too.

Thats odd! My friend is 6'5" and he had a 205 GTi 1.6 and fitted no problem (it even had a sunroof!). You must be an odd configuration!! I think at that mileage your asking for trouble ( suspension bushes, clutches, electric problems ETC.) Even though it's only a grand it's not worth all the hassle. IMHO.

Happy hunting.

as were doing a "size in a 205" report here's mine.

6ft 4 and fitted my 205GTI no problems- in fact I fitted in that better than in my Impreza as the seats don;t go back far enough in it. Perhaps the buckets are lower in the GTI and the steering wheel smaller?

Decided not to buy the 735 as it was just too big.

Regarding the 205, I sat in a friend's 205 GTi 1.6 with sunroof and couldn't see out of the windscreen. I've got a fairly long body and shortish legs (34 inch inside leg) so I'm obviously not built like a Frenchman
