My m8 just bought 1 and it is sooooo slow, its a 1.9 SDI, not sure if thats sports diesel, or standard diesel? anyways an Astra '91 p***** all over it, and he aint very happy lol. Any one else got 1, is it really that sluggish, or cud there be a problem with it?

i would go and get it checked out but if they can't find any thing wrong with it look in to getting it chipped or getting a new exhaust or some preformance part to give it some extra grunt

As far as I'm aware the SDi is a slug- it's not a PD Turbo diesel and outputs low BHP and torque in a heavy car.

You want at least a 110BHP TD engine or even better than that are the PD's that start at 115BHP (I think). I'm sure some VW diesel folk will explain it better than this- rest assured though it's slow.

May I just point out that you will NOT inherit the earth by running a diesel!

So just stop it! All those lovely carsonogenic (sp?) fumes really get up my nose.

And they're far worse than regular petrol engines pumping out Co2 for the trees to breathe. And miniscule (0.02%) CO!!!! so just drive a petrol!

Yup, the SDi is the German taxi spec 68 bhp, 97 lb/ft engine. Listed max speed of 99 mph, and 0 - 60 in 18.5 seconds.
If you're going for a VAG diesel it must be the TDi.

Nothing he can do with either to make it noticeably quicker either, as all mods for VAG diesels are only for the TDi ones.

Yep these babies have a whole 69ps! lol Poor bugger, stay away from any VW SDI unless you like to go slower than a zimmer frame!
