.......Vauxhall Tigra's?
Thinking about upgrading my Nissan Micra to a Vauxhall Tigra!
Other half has a Scoob so I thought I'd make the effort, lol.
What is everybody's opinion on them? Do they tend to have problems or are they a pain to fix etc.....?
Please let me know what you all think as I dont wanna buy one then find out.
Cheers, B x

Nothing about them I liked.
Borrowed one for a week. It was not a good experience.
Theres nothing "wrong" with the car. It does what a car should do. I just didn't like it.
Ford Puma is a lot better if that sort of shape is what you are after. also used one of these for a couple of weeks, it felt a lot better to drive. I did get a slight leg ache as the seats didn't feel to supportive, cushion not big enough.

Dont think they're troublesome or anything..just an odd shaped Corsa is it not ??
Driven one once, found it ok, but then, it was only the 1.4, so it was a little gutless.

nice and exciting when it first came out (circa 9 years ago?) - it is based on the Corsa chassis so the technology's looking a bit tired now.
I'd echo the point above - the Puma is a better car. Others I'd look at would be an MR2, Mazda 323, Seat Leon, Peugeot 206/306/7, BMW 3 series compact or, if you can afford it, the new Mini
good luck!

My next door neighbour has one and loves it, she had an MG before.
Really its what you like that counts, otherwise only scoobies would be produced
Test drive one and see what you think. I would have thought after a Micra it would be quite an exciting drive!!
You can always nick the old mans scoob for a real blast
Cheers

Dire - you'd be much better with a Puma.
Thats having experience of both.
D
ps - moving to "other marques" should get more exposure in there

Tigra's are horrible, I won't commentate on the drive because I never managed to fit in it to drive it. But you have a Corsa chassis underneath a tiny cabin, with engines that in the early years used to give problems. I think the engine isssues are all sorted now, but there was a problem with the 1.4's in particular.
For god sake don't buy a Tigra, get a Puma, it will have you smiling from ear to ear, chassis, engines, gearbox all superb, only the brake wear is suspect, but there are plenty of people out there who can fix that.

Depends what you want to spend.
Tigras are a lot less expensive to buy than a Puma. Therefore if your budget is between 3-5k you would probably find yourself a pretty decent Tigra. On the other hand for that sort op money, especially the lower end you may struggle to find a pretty decent Puma. If you really like the look of a Tigra, then the best thing to do is go and test drive a few, it is probably going to be an improvement on the Micra (dependant upon what type of Micra you have), and if you like it once you've driven it you can make an offer.

I'd rather have a Micra, almost as fast as the 1.4 Tigra and as good to drive. In this segment the Puma is the only car worth bothering with.

The 1.6 16V motor is an absolute gem, like it's big bro the near legendary 2.0 16V Unfortunately in their wisdom the bean-counters in charge at Vauxhall also chose to install both motors into the cheapest, most non-descript chassis they could find. Get a Puma. Hell I'd get a bl00dy Hyundai Coupe before I'd own a Tigra
BTW if you're ever intending carrying rear seat passengers over 2'6" don't bother.

Other half has a Tigra 1.4i and has done 25K miles in it..... I've driven it as well some distances.
Perfectly ok for its price and cheap to maintain. Engine for a 1.4i revs well and cruises on the M'way at good speeds considering its size. Very solidly built, which also means it is heavier than the corsa models. Nothing has gone wrong on it.
Bad thing would be the steering and suspension. Ok if your around town or on the M'way. Not good with spirited driving ..
