Zender 123/ Andy,
I see from your profile you might know a bit about BMW/Mini, whats the score with the Cooper Convirtables ? Any idea of the rough price of the S and delivery schedules, please feel free to mail me on james@rmsitservices.co.uk if you wish.

Cheers.

Multiply the value of the car by 0.025 to get an approx monthly rental, its not 100% accurate but its a good guide.

Nick, I think that is far too high in this case.

I would say on a small deposit and expecting good residuals, we are looking at the figure i mentioned. I got quoted that a few months back so it must be still okish.

That's not bad at all! Even I'm tempted at that price, guess the company car tax would be quite a hit though

Out of interest, i have a SL55 AMG on order for October and i am leasing it through LEX car hire. It is going to cost 2015quid a month for a minimum of 3 years. My deposit was 10 grand. Hope you have luck finding a leasing company. Coincidentally, i am getting rid of a mint STI8 at the end of September with a mileage of 8000 i expect by then. It was registered in April 03. Looking for around 20K.

Regards,

Andy

Thats why there are so many round here then, all leased !

I think 90% of the Bling (trying a new word out) in Wilmslow is leased, financed or on the plastic, at least my old Golf is all mine, all 500 quids worth !

Leasing is no cheaper than buying, so it is not a cheap alternative by any means. My everyday car is a MINI Cooper S which i paid for in cash and is used by my GF, my longer distance commuting/weekend car is a STI8. Leasing is convenient for those people, like me, that like to change cars every 3 years or so. The SL55 is AWESOME by the way I know what you mean about the bling factor though

I know leasing isnt cheaper in the long run but it does allow people to 'own' a car they couldnt otherwise afford.

To be honest I do like the big Merc but they are so common around here nowadays, all full of middle aged blokes driving around with the top down thinking they look dead cool and they dont, the SL55 is many things but cool it is not, far too flash for that.

It's just a nice car, leave it at that and don't try to analyse people you've never met!

Precisely! I smell jelousy J4ko... I would have paid virtually 80K after 3 years on the lease agreement, then i hand the car back for an SLR (possibly)... How does that equate to me having a car i wouldn't otherwise be able to afford? You do the maths. If you have driven a SL55, you would know that they are one of the finest cars ever. Oh, and don't make the mistake of stereotyping either, because i could go on and on about the standard guys who drive scoobies, Cups etc but it would be unfair to pigeonhole everyone.

Question

I don't understand the lease thing?!

Why not just buy the thing (SL55) on HP then in three years own the car and just trade it in? Would'nt the car be worth £??????? rather than just paying all that cash for nowt!

PS I would love an SL55, very nice cars but would have it de-limited!

90k ekk!! Hmm id be ordering a 996 turbo first i think

Leasings not really viable unless you can write the payments of against tax, and getting half the vat back is handy as well.
