Next Car...ideas please

After a complete nightmere with the Cosworth I had...living at the flat and worrying about damage I decided to sell it.....
Now I have moved into a house as well and crime isn't a problem in the new place...nice Boxsters etc.
I am thinking about maybe treating myself to an M3 Evo...not really any other ideas at the moment.
Looking to spend about 12-15k and will be used everyday...although only about 6-8k miles a year.
Also thought about a Civic Type R...as I used to have an S2000
Ideas and suggestions please

Is that the M Plate one...if so not knocking it but a little old and high on the miles for me.
Also sorry should explain...some EVO's had the SMG box in them which was regarded by many as an awful gearbox.....with plenty of delay between changes.

Got rid of the S2000 due to sheer greed I suppose...bought it off my father who is in the trade for 18 and sold it 3 months later for 20.
Made sense to...Miss it but a lot of money tied up in a car I use to travel 2 miles to work and back.

M3 Evo is looking favorite at the moment I must say...going to look at a convertible at the weekend with a hard top and also a Civic Type R.
Civic cheaper to buy, insure and run. Plus insurance is nearly 800 quid a year cheaper.

How about a nice new Octavia RS?
I gather they can be good fun are cheap to run and who is going to nick it? I also believe that they are easily tunable and can be made quite nippy oh and Evo reckon they are the best handling VAG car
But then, I may be biased

how about a cheap and cheerful (maybe oldis lowish miles GTI of some kind) every day car and something fun for the weekend/sunny days...
I used to have a westfield kit car and it rocked...totally impractical I know but it blows the cobwebs away and will easily keep up with modified scoobs, and the likes, in the race to 70mph (or above on private roads)
V8 or bike enigned cars are all the rage at the moment but your budget may not strech to that...if not a 140bhp 1700cc xflow example would set you back ~£6k. Racing car looks and rear wheel drive big smiles handling for little cash...and the best bit???? No depreciation and classic insurance.
I am getting another one as soon as I move house to somewhere with a garage.
just a though...

M3 evo Conv very nice , there isn't really anything else which offers 4 ish seats, super car performance and open top thrills for that money. Just watch out for problems with the Vanos valve system.
See this site lots of info

i only want one car so needs to be an alrounder.
M3 Evo does suffer from Vanos issues I know this, but would get a warranty put on it. Any ideas on a good place to go to get one trade ??

Get yourself a nice Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 5, its 4 door and practical and is in your budget range. Ive had Cosworths, an Integrale Evo, a Scoobie and a few other things and nothing comes anywhere near these cars for value for money. If your not to bothered about fuel economy then these cars will put a huge grin on your face when your behind the wheel.

Both great cars though - I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever you buy Matt. (Get another Pug )

I'm looking for an M3 Evo as well - try Independent Motor Company near Reading (they advertise in Autotrader so trace them through there) - they always have a few to sell.
The VANOS issue could cost you £1800 if it packs up. Such is the uncertainty that dealers are VERY reluctant to sell on E36 M3's as they could wipe all their margins on 1 warranty claim. The BMW dealer in Stafford has a lovely low miles Evo Coupe 6 speed for £15.5k but its in Dakkar Yellow and I just couldn't do it.
Also, think about a Porsche 968 Clubsport which is a lovely car if you can find a good one (I can't!).
