o.k guys my brothers car is off the road at the moment (Rover 220 Coupe Turbo) with a knackered engine. He isn't having much luck of sourcing a replacement, so I said I'd stick his advert up just in case someone on SN might know of a car or engine that is available. Anyway this is his request below - I have also placed an ad in the "wanted section"
"I require a used Rover 2.0 Turbo (T16) Engine, preferably sub 90k miler - needs to be in good working order etc.or a Salvaged Rover 820 Vitesse Turbo/Sport (92/93), 620 Ti, 220/420 Turbo please email me details/price if you have something."

Hi Karl,
Good luck finding an engine for your bro, left CCC just before the 'mishap' happened, but i've been told all the stories...
I recon we should try and purswade him to get a scoob...
I'll keep my eye out for an engine...
Laters,
G.

Bad luck. Why did the engine fail. T16s pretty bullet proof if maintained properly.
620ti complete on ebay recently - accident damage to nsf wheel and wing, door so beyond economical repair. I contacted vendor and was offered the complete car for 650. He soon withdrew it from the auction so someone snapped it up sharpish. Local major salvage company (Glos) want 650 for 620ti engine and ancilleries only. Several 220,400, 600 and 800 T16s Turbos on ebay and autotrader etc. Year or two back they'd ask 1000 quid for same 620ti lump so prices and availability better lately. You can pick up complete, tidy 800 turbos with MoT and a little tax for 300-500 quid, later ones for about double that. These earlier cars appear to have a stronger engine. I have a R220 Coupe Turbo. Fun car but I also want to put a T16 turbo in a MG Montego ..... even more fun ...

It looks as though one of the pistons seized whilst out on the track - car basically died on track causing a bit of an incident the car starts now, but the bottom end rattles like bolts in a can. I'll know the true damage when we strip it down.
Yeah the earlier T16 engine ran with Mahle pistons that could take up to 18psi safely, the newer T16's run with AE Pistons (branded as Choccy) as they start to melt around 14/15 psi :s - Ideally I could do with a '92 820 Vitty with a T16 (should be Mahle pistons).
I keep checking Ebay, Adtrader, Autotrader, Rovermart etc with no luck so far . Thanks for the help though

I had terrible issues with my T16 engine. Burnt valves etc.
I'll keep my eye out and see if I can help. I think I have a cylinder head knocking about somewhere.

guys, i have a mate with an 800 turbo (red) half leather etc for sale.
it has no log book unfortunately, but is taxed and mot'd i think.
he is currently on his hols, but should be back by the weekend.
if anyone is interested, mail me and i'll pass the info onto him.
PS he wanted circa £500 for it (clean as anything)
will have some pics when he's back.

Thanks all,
That is a good price, any idea of mileage? If it is a 820 Turbo and not a Vitesse then it will have the older M16 Turbo engine - and I need the T16. Thanks tho More leads here than on the Rover forums

I may aswell post in here
For mahles you want engine numbers before 105000, the engine number can be found on the lower right of the front of the block.
Mahles are still breakable though
20psi spike and 1 year of driving about with a rattle :

I used to have a 220 coupe turbo. Loved it to bit. Really quick. There is a guy who got me a minted engine. His name is Andy Nichols, and he has a 420 bhp engine in his Moestro (think that is how you spell it). Anyhow, he is part of the 200 plus club, and he was in ten of the best last year and came second. You should be able to get a contact for him at with his details on that website. He can give you pointers if you want to.
Although these cars are a nightmare for reliability, when they are good, they are rapid. When they are bad. Run for cover with Debit card in hand Good luck mate.
