Cool

Came back from Devon yesterday.
It took ten minutes longer than it used to take me in the Subaru.
Got home feeling so much more relaxed, no one cut me up or tried to race me.
I miss the thrill of the acceleration but I wouldn't swap the comfort factor.
(It did cost me an obscene amount in petrol though, oh well you can't win them all)

And if your journey is on A and B roads only a V8 engined off roader is far quicker.

The quickest Ive got to a mates place near Cardigan is in a Land Rover, albeit a very heavily modified one. Quicker than a standard 97 MY, 250 bhp WRX and even my Sti7. This is real world driving, not 4 in the morning stuff. Scoob may be quicker without traffic

How refreshing, I was assuming everyone would harangue me for not driving a Subaru.
Thanks guys.

Couldn't agree more.

Back in my Company car days in the 80's, I did all my motorway driving at >90 and arrived feeling fairly frazzled.

Now that I pay for my petrol, (and drive a MY99 Turbo!) I've dropped my crusing speed by just a bit, and get to my destination almost as quickly, and feeling altogether more relaxed.

Still managed to pick up 3 points and £60 for doing 40 in a 30 last month though! You cant win.

It's funny how little an overall journey time is affected by different cars, etc.

A regular run I do with the family is to visit my parents & the in-laws in Hull -- exactly 117 miles door to door, a mix of motorway, A-road and town driving.

Best time ever -- 1 hour 42 minutes in my old Volvo T4, and that was cruising at well into three figures on the motorway, and generally pushing & forcing it.

However, a while back I decided to take the wife's Punto 55 'cos it needed a good run to clear the engine out. Cruising at a steady 75-80 and taking it easy, it took 1 hour and 52 minutes ...

Agree with Steve above, 99% of the time the problem is traffic, not what car you drive.
