Question

hi Everyone

i am toying with getting shot of my MY98 turbo in the near future, dont get me wrong it is a great car, however with the miles i am putting on it i need something a little more of a cruiser.

I thought of possibly the Golf R32 or perhaps a 2 yr old S4 - both have a bit of get up and go and arent too old and boring.

Anyone driven either - or can make any other recommendations

thanks
Mitch

Love the look of the R32 but it's a bu**er to get hold of - all sold out until 2004 apparently. The VW dealer almost sneered at me for asking. Thus a new WRX and a company Civic Type R grace the driveway - and I would heartily recommend either but the WRX if you do lots of miles.

The S4 is a fast motor but is not much fun except for straight line speed. It is probably about as quick as the WRX and feels much better built but is very understeery and also feels bloated.

The new Alfa 147 3.2 is quite a tasty proposition if you fancy something with soul that isn't from Japan...

Had a good run with one yesterday in my standard MY00, didn't have much trouble keeping up in the bends (even though the driver was a nutter ) left me for dead on the straights though. Was also shod with GSD3s!

I ordered an R32 last week for Sept/Oct delivery from a local dealer. He also had another order slot available. It obviously depends on where in the country you order from.

Ive had both. Got an R32 at present. Out of the box the R32 is very good. I certainly rate it above the std WRX. It also sounds superb.

The S4 leaves a bit to the imagination with handling and gearshift. However all this can be sorted. Plus its very easy to get lots of horsepower. Jeff Wilshire has done a fine job with his.
