Seen 6 This morning on my 6 mile journey to work in Salford.
3 Blue Coupes, 1 Silver Coupe, and 2 Silver Cabs.
3 of them were within quarter mile radius of each other on an industrial estate!

Not really a "flash car" sort of area though... loads of mondeos , i usually get excited when i see a Mondeo Ghia in the traffic jam
I never normally see a scoob in the morning.. and i thought they were getting popular

yeah saw 5 all in the same road over here while i was doing some shopping in town, mind you they still look pretty tasty, and judging by the passenger of one of the cars they can still pull birds lol.

No-one doubting the quality of the new M3, it's just the volume of them on the roads which is diluting the exclusivity and any head turning quality they could possibly have.
It's exactly the same as what's happened to the Subaru Turbo, once they turned heads as they were exclusive. Not anymore - too too common.
Give me an Evo 5/6 any day of the week.

If you could afford a new M3, you'd buy 'em, we all would

If you had stuck a at the end I wouldnt have taken it literally .
People have different priorities and I see from a following post you drive an BMW Alpina version which are very nice and that would be a car I would look at, ie something a little different and rarely seen. So at some stage you must have decided not to buy an M3 as well.
If I desperately wanted an M3 I would try and find the money and borrow a large chunk of it . A new STI with PPP and a few options is going to cost the best part of 30+K not that much short for a new or nearly new M3. I should have added the 911 wouldnt be new either and I would look for a 3 maybe 4 years old one and would be probably less than the price of a new M3 or spec-ed STi.

No problem just a misunderstanding and I am sorry if I have offended.
You have got me thinking about a 911 again so I have just had a look at autotrader and these porsches hold their value really well . That 3 or 4 year old one maybe 7 or 8 year old one.

i need to reply to this also. BMW just isnt me. Great cars, well engineered but to me, the image is more David Beckham in a surong(however you spell that) Ide rather be Vin Diesel and drive a TVR speed six thanks

I could too but they don't appeal. "Common as muck" is an accurate observation of both marque and model round here .... and it aint necessarily the rich who have them ..... with personal debt hugely on the increase, I wonder how many actually OWN their vehicles......

'BMW just isn't me' When will people look past the badge and image
As a car, the M3 is awesome. Track or road it will better an STi (except perhaps in the wet and very initial traction) and ownership over 2/3 years will cost less. It is almost half the price of a 911 yet does everything better (except adhere to the badge snobs). No car comes close for mixing supercar performance with every day use.......and you'd say no because 'BMW just isn't you'?? You need your bumps felt
I am not saying if you can afford one you must buy one (I could, very nearly did. but went for a V8 merc AND a 330bhp/tonne bike engined westie instead ). But if it had to be one car, to do everything, for £40k, it would be an M3..there is no real competition, unless you only do 4000 miles/year in which case a 4 years old GT3 might just win the day.....
PS - TVR Tuscan Speed6 is a beaut, and for a 3 hour sunny afternoon blast I would take in pref to almost any car...but with high price AND shocking reliability (not as bad as the Griff/Cerb days, but still horrendous compared with the germans) ownership would have to be relegated to 2nd or 3rd car

I have to agree, I buy a car because it is a good product, have had many BMW's, fact is, they are a quality car. I couldn't give a toss what image it projects. If I drive bad momentarily, then it is in spite of, not because I drive a BMW.If I drove the same way in a Vauxhall, is that more acceptable? It makes me laugh when people moan about BMW drivers (and it is ALWAYS BMW) constantly, I can sort of understand the gel-head in his de-badged 318ci being the object of ridicule. If beating a 328etc away from a round about or "on the twisties" in a MY** with this that and the other gives you a sense of one-upmanship, who is more sad?

Daz I think you need to re-read the thread, nowhere does it say in ANY post that the M3 is bad car. The comment was that they are becoming numerous and diluting the exclusivity of them. It doesnt help with people buying 318 and adding the M3 bodykits so it looks like there are more than there are . My only comment was that with the money I would spend on an M3 I woudl prefer a second hand 911 or TVR. I dont see anything wrong with that. So why are M3 drivers so sensitive ?
There is a fine line between popularity and exclusivity something all we impreza drivers know well

Skittles WROTE:
>> And MGs are.... exclusive? <<
No, certainly not. Did I say that, did you? Go on then .... define an "exclusive" car king pin of skittles
Royalty mobiles excluded, I certainly can't think of one so include me out .....
Tell you what MG is though ... the marque of friendship .... true today as the first day I discovered it a long time ago .... so there ....
