Thumbs up

I have a Ford KA 2, and are looking to either P/X it or sell it privately to fund the purchase of my next car.
Thing is, I have no idea what it's worth.
98 R Reg
Limited Edition 'Electric Current' Red Paint (with Gray bumpers
Electric Windows
Power Steering
Clifford 600 Cat 1 Alarm & immoboliser
RDS Radio/cassette
75K miles on the clock (unfortnualy, I have to travel 50 miles a day down the M3 to work and back!)
11 months MOT (5 months Road Tax)
Immaculate condition inside and out (apart from a few stone chips covered up on the bonnet)
Never failed MOT

any ideas what I should be asking or what I could expect trade-in price for it?
I've looked in places like Autotrader but the prices seem very variable (based on what the owners want).
I'm looking about 2k trade-in - is that acceptable? I'm looking at going to local dealer rather than a brand dealership like Ford, Peugeot or Volkswagon.

Parkers HERE reckon £2K - £2.8K for 75K miles depending on condition.

Cheers for that.
So I could probably expect 2k trade...
She's in immaculate condition, mechanically the only thing that's gone wrogn with her was the usual, Brake pads, Clutch, and Exhaust, all fixed in last 12-18 months.
Going to see the car place today as I've got my eyes set on a car.

Just to give you some info, my local Ford dealer is selling P-Reg model cars for £1995. Haven't had a look yet so dont know their condition, mileage etc. Yours should be worth a bit more due to its age - £2200 maybe???

Question

Does having a profesionally fitted alarm make any difference?
As standard they come with just a tacky immobiliser, I bought a Cat 1 alarm and immoboliser for it and had it professionally fitted.
Cheers for the help BTW guys.

Just had a talk with the dealer, based on the things I told him (he hasn't seen it yet) he said he's be happy to give me a couple of grand for it
Result.
Hopefully new car by the weekend.
Cheers guys.

Mate, you need to be pushing for £2500 by the sounds of it, taking your description of its condition at face value, you'll be giving it away at £2k.

pinkeye,
remember, its a buyers market.
play the dealer at their own game.
decide what you "want" and stick to it.

do not get involved in a dutch auction.

i have walked out of dealers before, and gone elsewhere.

do not, under any circumstances show them that you have fallen in love with a car on their forecourt, that will just give them psychological ammo.

its tough out there........get tougher!!! and win....

BB - Good luck!!

Right, done deal
Talked to the guy, price was fixed, but what he would do is..
Service the car at the local dealership (including the Air Con unit)
Get 2 new front tyres for it
Mot it (so I have 12 months MOT)
Fix the indicator light (one side doesn't show on the dash)
Give 12 months warranty on it.
And give 6 months Road tax

Saves me the hassle of any work on it for at least 12 months, plus the tax on my car runs out in 6 months anyway

I might try that seeing as it's over a year since it's last service (so needs one) and I've seen one with 10K less miles for the same price now

Umm....could anyone give me some pointers on things I could use to barter him down?
So far I've only seen that it needs a service, it has plenty of months left on road tax and MOT.
