Went to the Detling kit car show at the weekend and fell in love (again) with a bike engined Fury

I'm going to build me one

Thumbs up

If you do, IMHO they look a lot better if you fit MGF front indicators and integrate the sidelights into the headlights - a lot more modern looking than the little round lights as per the picture.

They are certainly a lot of fun, and having tracked my brother's one (same colour, but 170bhp 2 litre zetec engine) they also comfortably slaughter the average Elise, even with my distinctly average driving.

That is almost 'how long is a piece of string....'

Probable the cheapest would be £6500 with a single donor Sierra and a Pinto engine upto £12-13K+ for a Blackbird engined factory built car with new parts.

Cheers. It would have to be a bike engine.

I fancy a Dax Rush MC with a turbo'd Hyabusa engine (350bhp, 700bhp/tonne). Around £18.5k to build IIRC.

Avoid the Blackbird engines - loads of drivetrain shunt

Don't have pictures here at the moment, but I'll see what I can do. His back lights were round ones that he set into the fibreglass, again I'll ask him if he can find some pics.

I'm fairly sure that Mark Fisher did have a demonstrator with MGF indicators too, and the "factory" is fairly local (can't remember the name of the place off-hand, but it's only about 10-15 miles away from the Detling showground). They have an open day some time in the summer (check website, and kit car mags), where you can see lots of them, and maybe have a ride in a few different ones

I believe my bro still holds the record for build time by getting his car through SVA and on the road within 8 weeks (IIRC) of the kit & donor arriving.

...and heres the MGF front indicators. They just happen to be almost identical to the shape of the "le mans" bonnet - it just takes a bit of bottle to cut it! (espcially when no-one had done it before me). I spent about £6k originally including £500 wheels/tyres with the pinto engine. The zetec on throttle bodies added quite a bit though. It can be done for less too. Check www.sylva-sportscar-register.co.uk to chat to owners

Do those indicators have sidelights in aswell ? or have you moved the sidelights into the main light units ?

I see the impressions for the lower sidelights are still in the moulding - some nice flush/recessed halogen spots would look kewl....
