Audi S3, yes or no
#1
A mate of mine is looking at an S3 from an independant dealer, apparently is has 260 bhp and he thought it was chipped, in fact it has an aftermarket management system, details are sketch but I wonder why a new(ish) car would have its already capable, fairly exotic standard management system swapped for a completely different one ?
Also it has drilled discs and braided hoses, what are your thoughts ?
Mine were enthusiast with loads of cash or out and out mad track day nutter.

Have had 2 S3's, both modded, lots of S3's are modded, MTM, AMD & APR being the most popular, can handle more power no prob. If it has drilled discs then unprated brakes are good news, many upgrade to the Porsche system.

um, unless i'm mistaken, 'aftermarket management system ' = chip/remap. don't know what else it would mean.
*loads* of people have had this done on s3's, tt's, golfs, octavias , leons etc.

Maybe they have had plenty of spare cash and wanted somthing a little more sophisticated than just a chip?
i.e Gems or Motec? little bit more refined methinks!
Go drive it and see how it feels.

sounds like an APR module
Doubt if it would be anything else - sounds like the dealer doesn't know what hes talking about - probably wants to make it sound a more impressive than "CHIPPED"

i agree with liam. a rechip IS an aftermarket management system!! it would be interesting to find out if it entails anything other than:
- opening up the ECU
- desoldering the original chip
- resoldering the new chip
- closing the ECU.
Voila! an aftermarket management system!
