Anyone got one of these....? Thoughts ? and anyone tried AMDing the car - 260+BHP with 285lbft torque ?
Just a thought - more a reality than a thought - but more of that later

Yeah I just had a Revo-Technik chip installed which is superb! Would definately recommend it for smooth power delivery and good kick all the way to 7000rpm.
I am still looking for any excuse to go out for a drive.

yes, my little bro has one, very nice, was close to buying one, when the p1 won the battle
he also has it chipped, with a APR Tuning chip, no other mods, except that..and its very quick, superb build quality, brakes certainly need some attention, but overall a very good car.

The Revo chip is alleged to provide about 10% more power than the APR - plus with the control box you can have a high boost setting which increases the performance by another hefty chunk! I don't like to guess what power the high boost program will give but I think I am running at 260-270bhp with about the same torque.
Yesterday night I got onto an empty motorway and accelerated from 60mph-140mph very quickly indeed. It actually accelerated hard upto that speed at which point I thought I had better back of and go down to a sensible speed!
P1, I agree with your comment about the brakes. They are barely good enough for a standard car and on track would only last a lap of two before that caught alight! I have noticed a massive increase in the amount of break dust that is sticking to the wheels now!

hi mate..
Do you know anyone (peeps or companies) offering good aftermarket brake kits for the S3.. as in direct replacement..
Checked my bro's car in the evening..its coming up to replacing the fronts..pretty soon..
I've seen some peeps go for the Porsche red (think brembo) ones..look cool..but probably a ridculous amount of dosh!!

The first thing to do is to get some green stuff brake pads. They reduce fade and improve response by a good amount without the need for new disks - they are no substitute for disks like Brembo or Porsche but they will probably be fine for the road!
Also they do not give off anywhere near as much dust which bakes to the wheels.
There is good information on various tuning products for the S3 @ www.tyresmoke.net.

Re Veracochas suggestion on the Greenstuffs
These do work well on some cars , but on my year 2000 A4 Quattro V6 they stopped 'ok' but didn't notice much improvement and got fed up with 'graunchy/grating' noises from the pads.
On the other hand, I haven't seen a bad word against uprated Pagid discs and pads for Audis.
However, Greenstuffs may be fine on the TT ?

Well........ I've gone and done it.
I've just bought an S3 - a very tough decision - done more out of reliability than anything.
Well spec'd climate, jacquard leather, computer, 9 spoke alloys, aluminium wing mirrors, bose sound (220W) with symphony 6CD in ming blue. It looks lovely.
Servicing - every 2 years
I loved the 911 - but a series of mechanical disasters has meant it has to go - I'm looking forward to a 3 year warranty and low maintenance so I can continue with my (busy) life

...oh and I can get it chipped by ABT to either 250bhp or 300 bhp - all covered under Audi warranty
So no need to say that this will also be soon on the car

Sounds nice, but just how much have you spent on cars in the last 3 years :-))))
I reckon it must now exceed the GDP of a small African country. Hehe.
Porkers - you've not had the best of luck.

...and 3 years ago just before you got the ITR, I said the Scooby was your best bet :-)))))))
Funny you're still hanging around on Scoobynet :-)))
Hehehehehe!
You can't beat a Subaru for all round ability/cost/performance.

Let me think?
ITR -> Porker 911 -> P1 -> Lupo GTi -> ITR -> Porker 911 -> Audi S3.
There is a sequence there!!!
FWD front engined (ITR) -> RWD rear engined (911) -> 4WD (P1) -> front engined FWD (Lupo) ->
FWD front engined (ITR) -> RWD rear-engined (911) -> 4WD (S3) -> ??????
So going on that, I can confidently predict your next car will be front engined FWD car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed - my car buying is as random as brownian motion
But with the wedding coming up next year - I'm confident that I'm sticking with the S3 for a little while longer

The AbT chip is - I saw the letter confirming this from Audi/VAG (UK) to the dealer. Its been accepted for over a year in Germany - and only recently approved here in the uk.
