There are turbo kits for the MX5. I think they mainly come from the States where the car (IIRC) is called the Miata.
You might be better off buying a good MX5 in the UK and then getting a turbo kit fitted.

The BBR model was the one with a turbo fitted in the UK, it wasn't that quick. There are HKS turbo kits for around 1600+vat that'll up power by around 40%. I'm after the Jackson Racing Supercharger kit which is a bit more expensive but will give me about a 60bhp increase taking it to 175bhp. Unless you really want the exclusivity of owning a rare MX5 then you're far better off getting a second hand one here and modding it. My Eunos is in good condition for an 89 model, 55k miles, and isn't worth more than 3.5k.

SlowBoy,
Have a read of the article! This guy called it 'Porsche Boxster Basher'!! My wife has one at the moment, but I've always said that it's excellent fun to drive but needs more power...
The enhancements have been carried out by Prodrive in Australia, who claim the engine easily has a 250bhp / 250 ibs ft potential if further tuning was carried out!! Imagine that sort of power / torque in a RWD MX-5...?

Does anybody know how I could go about importing a Mazda MX-5 SP from Australia?
My wife likes the looks and I like the figures:
~200 bhp
~200 lbs ft
Apparently they have kept the boost right down to reduce lag and improve reliability. Even in this 'low boost' state the thing can do 0-60 in around 6 seconds and pulls well throughout the rev range!!
How the hell do we get our hands on one. As far as I can tell, there were only 100 made originally. Can anybody answer the folowing:
- Are they going to make anymore?
- Can you import a car from Australia easily?
- Are there any plans to sell them in the UK?
- If not, are there any performance packs for the MX-5?
Thanks,
Wuss.
