Used car advice, what next?
#1
I'm new to posting on this forum, been lurking for a while though Brother's got a MY00 scooby as a company car, tenuous link I know... Thought I'd ask some advice from everyone....
I'm looking to change cars in the near future, I'm 6ft 4 so need something with ample room! and was considering the folowing up to 3/4yrs old to about £10 - 12grand.
BMW 740
Jag XJR
Lexus GS300
Merc S / E class
Any views?
Cheers

Hey mate
Nice to hear from new posters in the area!
I have the same issue as you, being 6'4 myself.
As for the low down on the cars.. heres my opinion
BMW 740
Absolutely outstanding cars. Loads of spec, and power to boot. Lovely drives. If you can match the ins and running, get one
Jag XJR
Nice cars, and Jag are finally sorting themselves out. Here's the clencher though, have you tried to get anyone to sit behind you in the car after you've set it up for yourself?!?!?!?
Lexus GS300
Again, like Jag, finally getting modern. Nice cars apparently to drive, nice trim levels too. Could you handle the service from Lex though? Also, rear room is another NO-NO on these cars. I always hit my head sitting in the back on the rear column!
Merc S / E class
Personally, I would go for the S class here. More room, and more generous on spec. Plus, you get the added tank feel, ain't no-one going to get in your way!!
Hope that helps

How about a BMW 840 (I just happen to have one for sale, see for sale section) and I might even consider a p/ex. The 840 is more a Grand tourer than an out an out performance car, but is very refined and criuses all day long at 120 (in Germany of course)

Thanks for the replies so far..
Flyboy,
The 840 is a still a smart looking car, But I don't want to be rude, but I consider them still too expensive for what you get. Considering you can pick up a mint MY99 BMW 740 with 50/60k miles for £12k. Still wouldn't mind one, if they were less money!
Any other cars I've not considered?
Cheers.

Im going to be doing a thread about running a second car very shortly and people can post their experiences with said types of cars, running costs, common probs/faults etc.
It should be here by the end of the week
