CRX VTEC....had one a few years back forgot what they drove/sounded like...

Drove my mates Jreg CRX VTEC yesterday - has a K+N and a Janspeed fitted....when it reaches 5000rpm and the VTEC wakes up...sounds absolutely AWESOME... as if the engines screaming

Doesn't half turn some heads

Raf.

Cracking little motors always wanted one of these big grins alround when you hear a vtec on full chat. I like the integra type R engine I just wish my puma revved that well

tuneable?? depends what you want out of them - as they are standard more than enough acceleration that you would expect from a 1.6 although I have heard of some that have had turbo/supercharger conversions on them reaching just over 200BHp..... although you need to spend serios ££££'s to achieve that....

Thumbs up

My JDM CTR used the b16b engine std 183bhp, running about 210bhp NA, we revved it to 9400rpm (N1 Exhaust sounded sweeeeeeeeet), using the power FC, was getting Valve bounce, so tuned down to 8950.

Sold it 3 weeks ago, and the new owner is going for 230BHP, with some Jun parts NA.

I ran a blue one for 3.4 yrs. Went from 6000 miles to about 53000. Reg no J*** KRP, I think

VTEC was great and sounded awesome with straight thru exhaust and no cats. Still to this day reckon it was the post chuckable, fun and progressive handling car I have had

Yeah I have one of these little beauties, It's not a Vtec but is still pretty rapid, There wasn't much BHP difference between the 1.6 16V and the Vtec, but it's a fair bit cheaper insurance, and if it goes wrong.

recommend them to anyone, except if you need it as a family car as the back seat is on the small side!!!!!

PaulMc - I think a guy called Rob from Plymouth has your old motor, certainly that reg number is familiar.

Regards,

Scott.

Owned 1 of these a few years ago a 1.6 16v, had A K+N and full stainless on it, sounded mega bad with go kart handling !, would waste most HOT HATCHES on the road, used to give my mates v-tec a good race, recommend these to anyone.

Went to look at one today "J"reg Crx. Looked in good condition, but when I got to drive it, the gearbox seemed to be on the way out it felt very sloppy.

Cool

Hi kenny - there's a nice J reg crx vtec in white in my trader up at £2700 ish has 100k fsh, s/s exh, filter, boost valve, 16" rims...
saying that there is quite a few crx's on the trader website....
good luck in finding a motor.... excellent little run-arounds..

hatch civic vti's are good cars but the interior is (IMO) really sick
