Boxster S - What sensible mods?
#1
Hi
Due to receive my boxster in April. Can anyone recommend good mods like exhaust (pref not decat) and induction.
Who are the good suppliers? What are the warranty implications?
BTW keeping the RB5 with "sensible mods" also.
Thanks
Paul

www.986board.com is probably the busiest Boxster board. It's very US centric but there are some good folk on there and far more of them actually track their cars than you might imagine...

Good advice - it was considered but the wife needs and likes her RB5 for the small person!
The plan is to build up more equity and replace 986 with 996 (hopefully C4S) in a couple of years.
However, I will not hear a word said against boxster as it is a fantastic driving experience that Scooby can't manage - flamesuit is donned and ready!
Thanks for the stuttgart site - not found that one yet.
WaxBoy - thanks for that - regularly read this but would prefer a more UK site as you say
Cheers

This months 911 & Porsche World has a Porsche parts catalogue (third party, not from Porsche) in it, I have a subscription though so I don't know if it's just for subscribers but worth a look. Quite big with lots of nice toys to drool over

RUF do a rather nice conversion on it! Including a new Boxster it comes to £52k, has the engine from a 911, all suspension and wheels replaced.
I'd love one, alledgedly the best handling Porsche, combined with alledgedly the best engine. Luuuurvley!

Just sold my 911, used to have it serviced by JzMachtech Porsche in Kings Langley, they are agents for Rook and do some very nice kit, check there web site and give them a call.

What about just leaving a classic as a classic rather than max powering something that just wasnt meant to be ?
Thats IMHO - not that the Boxster above looks utterly naff or anything

I believe the Porsche performance exhaust is the one to have - they only give modest improvements in BHP but sounds wonderful. The system has holes in it that open at a specified speed (via the ecu) to give the sound !......... it isnt cheap though - circa £2K.
Leave it as is - there isnt any need to mess around
