Honda Type R's
#1
It is the time of year to start looking at getting a new car, have begun looking at Integra Type R, have seen a few uk cars 99 for about 10-11k. I understand the 0-60 time is reasonable and that the chassis is the dogs!!With it being the finest FWD car in its time, are there any owners out there??
I was looking at at a civic type r, but heard that they are partial to front tyes, and that there is a fair bit of noise on MWays?
Also are Fiat 20v Turbos, fast in a strainght line what about corners, compared with the two cars above??

would get a wrx but the tyres, servicing, insurance and other costs are a bit to high if what i have heard is correct, seen lots of uk turbos advertised are these just uk spec non wrx's??
As i thought all wrxs were imports, as in imports imports,They all come from the rising sun!!

will find out on the fiat coupe forum the best way to improve the handling, this has confimed what i thought about the speed difference. If you do go on the FC forum they all recon the coupes are great but i think i need to speak with some one who has oned a scoobie, F Coupe and if poss driven some of the Hondas, don't get me wrong i dont want to waste 12-13k on a lemon, and ideas not Group 20 insurance 18-19 tops!!

Sorry mate but if you've heard a Civic Type R Is noisy on the motorway....The Integra, depending on how you feel about the 'noise' (which I think is fantastic) is for sure louder.

The Integra Type R is fantastic, I don't think the ITR is that noisey, but hey I had an N1 exhaust on for the last 2 months
The CTR is excellent, but isnt that out of your budget at 14-16K? , lacks the feel, pointiness of the Integra although Im, sure I could drive a CTr faster than the other two, although not as fun as the ITR, the Fiat Coupe I havent driven, but can't see it handling aswell as the Type R's.
Best bet is get the new ITR

Agreed - go the Integra route.
Should be able to pick up one of the very best and youngest UK cars for the money you are quoting.
They are SERIOUSLY good cars.
Don't be put off by the low torque figure. Although it peaks at high rpm, the curve is very wide and pretty flat.
Torque to weight is almost the same Civic and Integra. Integra has higher power to weight ratio than Civic.
Not much in it in the real world, but the 'teg handles better.
Fiat - lol and people think Scoobs are expensive to run?

Definately go the new Teg route if you can get one cheap... the figures quoted are for the old Teg.. new one has 220bhp and a wicked chassis to match...
Lots of fun chasing down STi's on B-roads ha ha ha

I have a Integra Type-R and I spent today driving my mates Civic Type-R (my car was in for a service), The teg is better in my opinion as you need the LSD, the civic is a danger pulling away on a slight incline as the wheel just spins (damp road), you have to pull away in 2nd gear, my Integra is quicker as well by about 2 car lenghts up to about 110M.P.H (private road of course) civic doesnt seem to have the same kick when the V-Tec comes in. He used to have an Integra and is realising it is the better of the 2 after only a week. I was going to go for a Coupe 20VTurbo but picked the honda for reliability, bullet proof engines and gearboxes.
Buy a Teg and you wont be dissapointed.

I would recommend the Teg too. I never owned one, but i've been in a few, just two words to make your decision when thrashing to its peak:
"Track day"
I know which one I would rather have when absolutley thrashed on the road or track! The CTR is very easy to wheel spin and doesn't have as good feel, and Fiat Coupes are quicker but handling and reliability (when thrashed all the time) are very poor.
The Teg is still rated as one of the best fwd cars ever.

The Fiat is a good looking car, the Integra type R looks like a Japanese dogs dinner, the Type R racing pedigree businees is lost on most as it looks like a Hyundia or Proton with spoilers on.

I used to have a 2000W Teg Type R. Loved it to bit's. Humbled alot of more powerful car's when the road got a bit curved. It's just as much fun as my Evo 6 RS2 but in a different way. The teg love's to be thrashed but are totaly reliable at the same time. Get one now.
This is a pic of a new shape teg a mate of mine has just imported.

ADL,
Read my post on hear and on MLR, I was going through the exact same thought process two weeks ago, decided to go the ITR route, those guys on the Fiat Forum are well 'clicky' one of them got offened when I put up a wanted add on their site as I was looking for a bargain, he really did spit his dummy out!!..
Anyway, went for a test drive last week in a ITR, ended up putting a depoit down on it, picking it up this Saturday. It's white, it's mint, it's 'S' Reg, done 32k miles and in 2 days time it's going to be mine. Fiat comes a poor second best as a drivers car and will struggle to get the power down, especially if it's a little wet.
