Rover MGF probs

A friend is getting a serious run around from her rover dealer about parts for her MGF, in total her car has been in the garage for 6 of the 18 months she has owned it from new.
The latest in the saga is an electric window motor, with no-one at the dealership giving her any idea when a part might be available, the last time this happened the car sat for 4 months waiting on bloomin' door locks, the wrong locks were sent 5 times!!!
Would anyone have a contact number for someone at rover that might be able to help her out?

I know all cars have problems, Japanese and German included.
I still would`nt spend my hard earned on anything from Longbridge.
I think overall, Japanese and German cars may be, err, a little more reliable than British

I have a British and a German car....
My view is that the old TVR is reliable (not what most people say, but hey they don't have one), however its build quality compared to todays cars is poor in certain areas due to being hand built with a parts that are not manufaxctuered to high specs. Do things break , yes, but it doesn't stop me getting home 
The Beemer is good quality though....
Driven an MGF and would say the steering and suspension are not to my taste, but the build quality seemed very good.

Lucky you in a position to earn. Glum faced neighbour with similar attitude explained his factory is closing and he no longer has a job. Appears their regular customers are buying foreign. Still, he can look on the bright side. He has lots of time to polish his Subaru and the wife's BMW ..... until they are snatched back .....

Wrong locks 5 times !!!! Electric window motor required. Door locks, window motors .... These are NOT huge tasks are they?
Something very wrong with the service at that dealership !!!

Andy,
Dunno if its the dealer or the supply chain.
We had problems getting parts on our ZT coz the MG parts contract had been changed and the new co. fukced it up big style.
I understand that its still very shakey and is leading to further delays in getting parts to dealers.

here where i work there is a rover mg enthusiast you know the old (if it's not rover it's not good) chestnut!! and also my father has a mgf vvc which he got from new and they have both said that the rover outlets that served them were not as helpful as expected...
I happen to like the new Z series but as far as normal rovers go they are like grandads cars i think anyway (a to b not bad though)..
i would far rather get a beema or jap of similar spec tho

Yep, I am allright, but Steve, not Jack. Sorry your mate with similar attitude to mine is losing his job, I have the benefit of being unemployed since 1994 so cannot lose my job.
On a Japanese car bbs, you are more likely to get people prefering Japanese cars. Or maybe German.

isn't i great when you get constructive advice back from someone MGJohn.
As far as corrado's go they handle quite well for a front wheel driver but they are not quick at all.
The MGF is seen as quite a good track car by those that actuall know

The VVC MGFs weren't slow by any means, and the MG-TF 160 is quoted as 0-60 in 6.8seconds...
You have a Corrado and you call Rovers grandad cars??
It's not all about straight line speed anyway, and even an alloy'd up E46 316 is gonna leave a Corrado for dead round roundabouts etc.
It's all down to personal taste, I've driven all the top spec Z cars, they're all lovely to drive and go well for what they are, handling isn't too shabby either. ( This is coming from someone who works for BMW..)

) have given me ANY trouble whatsoever. NOW THAT is reliability. In contrast my ex wife had an MGF from new in 1996 (one of the first). It was ALWAYS at the dealership. I agree with the bloke up there, Japanese is best

I wonder what Frank Williams, Eddie Jordan and the Boys at BAR F1 would think of that comment .... BOOM ... BOOM ... literally ... smoking !!...
AND, after all that huge investment, when are Toyota going to get an F1 result? .....
Could go on like this indefinitely ..... ... but wont.

This is about road cars, not multi-million pound sports outfits :smile:
I used to own a rover coupe - I got it one year old. Biggest mistake of my life. Bits falling off everywhere - heater ****, glove box door, oil leaks (went in nine times to get that one fixed).
Exhaust went when the car was 2 years old!!!
When I sold it less than two years later, I lost 70% of the value!!
Don't get me wrong - if there is one car manufacturer I want to do well, its Rover/MG - it will just be a little while before I get another one. However saying that I test drve the MG version of the 75 and 45 last year at Milbrook. To say I was surprised woudl be a huge understatement - fantastic cars!

you must have just had a bad one, mine has had no problems with interior etc, yeah it's got an oil leak now after 4 years, oh yeah but i have just blown up the clutch.

Let me re-iterate on a competition theme:
WRC World rally manufacturers championship 1995, 1996, 1997.
WRC World rally drivers championship 2001 (in a Subaru).
Ok, Subaru are having a rough time at the moment but thats down to the drivers in my opinion. Had R Burns been with Subaru last year I think we may have been in a better position. Also I think the WRC should impose rules not just on weight and bhp, but wheelbase as well, because it appears that Peugeot with the 206 have a quite clear (unfair) advantage.....Blutes
p.s.
I think MG entered the WRC last year with Gyndaff Evans at the helm. Don't recall them even finishing a rally event in the top 15 never mind the top 5. Nuff said.
