Question

Hi all

I am currently thinking about replacing my MY98 UK Impreza Turbo for a MY01 Lexus IS200. While I know there will be no comparison to the performance of the Scoob, just wondering if anyone has any experience of the Lexus?

Thanks in advance

Gavin

Cool

Executive toys galore.
A nice BMW 3 series alternative.
Gagging for more power though.
Typical japanese bullet-proof bodywork and engines.

Just got a IS200 sport, what can you say, easy drive, smooth, quite, solid car. Did have a problem with the other half putting the keys in the boot and then shutting it with all the doors locked.

IIRC there's a IS300 which should be more fun than the 2 litre.
I like the things.

I had an IS200 for nearly 3 years.

Good points:
Looks
Handling
Comfort
Gadgets
Reliability
Surprisingly cheap to service

Bad points:
Totally gutless
Beige interior a nightmare to keep clean
Terrible rearward vision
Poor fuel consumption (although better than a Scoob)

Go for the Altezza RS200, which has a 210ps 3S-GE engine (from only 2 litres). That car comes with a manual gearbox as standard (unlike the auto-only IS300).
Be careful not to buy the Altezza AS200, as that has the same 1G-GE engine which is also fitted to the IS200.
