40K to spend on new motor?
#1
I can just about manage to scrape up £40K for a change of car - Ive had a scooby and an evo - dont particularly want another jap performance car. And Im not going to buy new again. Thought about a noble gto but long term residuals put me off. Quite fancy an M5 or even a 996 carrera 4 - what do you guys think?

M3 maybe...second hand RS4,skyline or nsx?
AC Cobra CRS is just under 40k isn't it? Personally if insurance wasn't such a problem I'd would run a scoob or evo and something interesting for the weekend like a Catherham or westie.

2 cars is the way to go. I had a £40k budget and now have a Merc ML430 and a Bike-engined Westfield.
M-class has bags of space, mass comfort, nice V8 soundtrack, 300bhp so is still hot-hatch quick, easy mile-muncher, safe as a house, brilliant.
Westie has a Power-Weight-Ratio that (in standard trim) only an Italian supercar can even get close to, track performance that will shame all but a £1/4 Million hyper car, 13,000rpm screaming F1-esque soundtrack, sequential manual gearbox (gearchange on steering wheel) - a racing car on the road.
No one car can offer as much

Get the Noble M12 GTO... absolutely amazing car to drive. I was lucky enough to drive one on a supercar experience last month. The sound from the engine is out of this world....I didn't want to get out of it! I don't know anything about the long term residuals of it but I did see on TV used examples are selling for more than new ones.
But whatever you choose good luck to you and have a ball....wish I was in the same circumstances but I just a dreamer
PS. Hi everyone I just registered.
