Looking at one tomorrow for my mum (she likes the looks of them & they;re a bit different and relatively cheap).
Anyone got any tips on what to look out for (apart from usual car stuff - clutch, oil leaks etc..)
thx.

Main thing is to check the bodywork carefully for signs of bubbling / rust breakthrough, especially the front inner & outer wings and doors. Like the other early 90s small Volvos, the build was a bit moody -- some cars are up to usual Volvo standards, and others seem to be rotboxes. Lift the carpets in the boot to check for water ingress through the hatch.
The electrics can be a bit dubious, check the windows and all the gadgets work.
Normally aspirated engines are understressed and pretty sound, but check for mayonnaise around the filler cap / dipstick and for oil in the water as head gaskets can go. If it's a turbo, don't touch without an FSH, they're not very highly strung but they do like regular care.
Good luck
