So my wife's run-about finally collapses so we do a tour of the local car yards looking for a replacement.
There, in one yard is a 1989 2 litre Pontiac Lemans; looks ok, give it a test drive and the guy wants 400 quid for it.
Deal done.
Come home and start doing a bit of research on the Net - and from what I read this vehicle was sold in the UK under the name of Vauxhall Astra !!
And these cars (or maybe it's just the drivers) don't get much of a write-up on this site.
Anybody know of a site that's got more info about the Lemans aka Astra?

Heres some thing I noticed and ive had 5 Mk2 Astras:
Rear suspension is like Jordans ****, (ie all over the shop)
Rear Arches are prone to Rust and Rot
Interior lacks any form of style whatsoever.
Engines are Robust and they have to be really mistreated to get them to die.
The Gearboxs are very strong but can be a little rubbery.
Parts are cheap.
My friend has one with 218'000 miles on it!!
They are nice and easy to work on. For me they were a good basis to learn mechanics, albeit I needed 5 before I learnt !!
Does it look like this:
This was the last one I had and thus ended my Astra Legacy.
Any questions an i'll be glad to help
