Mazdaspeed RX-8 A-spec. Prepare to gawp!
#1
Just when i knew I wanted the RX-8 when it's launched, they throw this fly into the ointment. At present it's only a bodykit, wheels, new interior and lowering springs, but rumours gather that a full 1.5litre Renesis putting out 300bhp in NA form is to be launched next year. Here's hoping, though the interior looks decidedly Type R and a bit too low rent (sorry R fans, i'm one of you, at least until I become a Wankel!).
Current US pricing of sub $30k for the 250bhp standard RX-8 means the full A-spec (ie no engine work only what you see) should be around $34k and the full Mazdaspeed conversion with 300bhp and all you see here aroung $38-40k. That could man the standard car here for £23-25k, bodykitted at £25-27k and 300bhp at around £30k. All speculation of course, but hope springs eternal!

Looks great but no turbos ..booo !
Seriously it looks like a great car although in some colours they look a bit gawky in the flesh, like the dark blue.

You can place your order with Mazda now if you like, the basic 'high power' version IIRC is 21,995, just hand of a grand and the order is yours.
If anyone is interested I can try to find the e-mail with the prices.
Personally I'm not convinced with the shape of it (or the lack of turbos ) maybe it will grow on me. There are still rumours of a proper RX7 replacement but only time will tell if it sees the light of day.

Sweet looking motor - front is very S2000 dont u think? Only bit I dislike is the rear pillar and the fact they put half doors on the back even though they blend in. Other than that it has a superb mean look to it!

For more details, go to the Mazda Rotary Club website/forums.

Please ask questions, as some of the people on the list have VERY good links in to Mazda UK.

And if the 300bhp Mazdaspeed RX-8 isn't a true and better RX-7 replacement, what is??
Agree though, beautiful looking motor.

Its not an RX-7 replacement, its an additional model to the lineup, so Mazda should release a new RX-7 sometime soon (I hope).
Looks amazing, I recon thats one for the future shopping list.
