Cool

Can anyone give me more info on the twin turbo charged 2.7 litre (I think) model? The RS6 is unfortunately out of the equation as it hasn't been brought into Aus yet, otherwise that would be the option I would take.

Detuned version of the (old) S4 engine. I was actually pretty unimpressed, the 3.0 feels just as quick and more responsive. On the 2nd hand market, the 4.2 quattro is a very similar price and far superior in every respect in my opinion.

I though they invented rex's in aussie land.

Its a Audi so it will be quiet, germanic build quality, heavy, comfy and boring .

Sammy Don't even whisper the word Holden

I also looked at a 330 convertible and a 530 with the full Msport package (which was drop dead gorgeous, in black )

Someone no names.. Didn't fancy the 330 and reckoned that the 530 was a poseur car.... Sadly no M5's or RS 6's available in the right time frame..

Sh$te this is harder than I thought LOL

£5k for a pair of k04's???? I hope they do more than that for that money.

Typical AMD pricing, other tuning companies are available.

Apologies if it seemed harsh, I was more in shock than anything!

If that is "just swapping the turbos" then it's expensive even by AMD standards, as they do a single K04 + full exhaust + injectors + intake pipe + remap and fitting for £2500.

AMD just always seem over expensive for the same jobs other tuners do, and (personally) I've heard too many bad experiences to justify their extra cost as "quality". They've also displayed a lack of knowledge in the more specialist questions I've asked them in the past.

I'm not going to promote another tuner, as that always degenerates into a "my tuner is better than your tuner" discussion, which benefits no-one, but I would reccommend speaking to APR, MTM, and Jabbasport (as well as AMD) before deciding where to put your pennies for big power conversions.

You may also want to look at other turbo's, I believe IHI units are stronger \ cheaper so that may be worth considering.

Being a mod here means I cannot release such a tirade if I was provoked enough to....

My darling Tavia, I am sure you will agree that there are some females who can drive better than men and are more enthusiastic about their cars than men......

Mr Squire,

Trust you are finding Oz to your liking. Get the Skyline or Evo for yourself and a runaround for the "little woman", its not like she'd know what to do with it
Oz is OZ

nah looking for something a bit nicer than that.. Skylines are a dime a dozen here.. But I am driving an evo tomorrow..

But I don't think that will be the purchase decision

Golfliam. You say that APR dont have a K04 map for the 1.8T

You are wrong as my Leon Cupra R is mapped by them and thats K04 1.8T. Also what is the Audi S3 or TT but a K04 1.8T?....

Edited cos I cant type

Checkout
www.Auto-amd.com

they do a twin K04 upgrade for that engine replacing the standard k03's for about £5000
(or u can just remap it with k03's for 315 bhp - you can't do that with the 3 liter)
which give it the same turbos as the RS4 and is good for around 400+ bhp.....

Thats a bit of a snotty post - i don't work for them
i've just used them and know they do a good job......
Just name the other companies then.....instead of slagging off AMD
Pricing

Name another company that will do a twin K04 upgrade for much less than £5000 including fitting and RE-mapping...

Oettinger charge nearly £5000 for single K04 upgrade on a 1.8T

I have to say i think £5000 to convert an S4 into more or less an RS4 is a bit of a bargain...... - don't know too many other cars where u can convert from a 265 bhp to 400+
"reliable" bhp for £5000 do u ?

Maybe you should do a bit more research

MTM are more expensive than AMD but don't have a rolling road
APR don't even have a remap for a K04 on a 1.8T for the UK market

A kit on its own will cost between 3-4k from somebody like APR

Haven't seen too many Jabba RS4'S around but there seen to be quite alot of RS4 owners that "RISK" their cars with AMD....
i don't even think APR do much for RS4 either.... mmmm quess they have even less knowledge than AMD with high powered cars

Is there an IHI conversion for the v6 twin turbo.....why bother if you can have 450 bhp by just swoping the the turbos for the tried and tested RS4 ones and no need to fabricate a new manifold...

As somebody that has used them......
I can see how they can justify there prices.......

Apologies for hijacking the topic....
