Saw an article in the weekly car mag (Autoweek ?) about the new Evo VIII being around 22k; minus the ayc and a few other gizmos. Sounds a bit like the RS Sprint in terms of equipment spec.
Be interesting to see what IM do when the VIII appears. I'm willing to bet there'd be a few more Evo's on the road instead of new shape WRXs; or possibly STIs, if they don't rethink their pricing structure. Assuming the 22k price translates to the UK, of course.
Still wouldn't be able to afford any of them...

Ho much is the AYC worth and does it really make that much difference... hopefully the one at £22k will have aircon.. wish they'd sort the fuel tank capacity out!
I'll be interested at that sort if price.. theres a lot of modded Evo6's around at the moment that are overpriced so I'm looking at bog std Evo7's - but even these are over £20k.....

i've seen the auto express article briefly.
my understanding was the 22k price was going to be for an Evo 8 with about 230ish BHP ?
and was meant to go head to head with a standard uk wrx ?
but an upgrade to 300bhp would be available from mitsi dealers ?
the auto express article is sayings though that its still 271bhp for this money ? the car they tried had lost the AYC and Active Centre Diff.
also its gained 50kg in weight over the VII and now has a 55 litre fuel tank to improve fuel range.

55litres - at last something semi reasonable....
Think the Scoobs have 62litre capacity...
Wonder how much it will be for the 300bhp job then.. about £30k with all the bits?
Think I'll definately hold out as the fuel range is more practical. I'm waiting to see if I can get an Evo 8 as a lease car with my company over in the States! so may not get one in the UK....

I heard the same as Steve, 230 'ish bhp for £22k. I've also got this weeks Autoexpress with says 270 odd. I think the former is more believable, but I guess we will have to wait and see. Anyone know when it's due out?

think its meant to be available 1st quarter 2003.....instead of the original planned date of 1st quarter 2004.
mitsi want to try to head off the influx of grey imports be releasing it much earlier.
be v interesting to see reviews of UK cars in the coming weeks to confirm power and see how they reckon the loss of AYC / Centre Diff etc affect the car....if at all........
certainly nice to see an evo coming along at that sorta price.
and it gives some people summat else to post threads about
i mean......
Focus RS v WRX v GTA v Evo III etc etc
