That I do believe is going to be the tricky bit but as I was saying to UKVTEC (remember him? He couldn't believe it when I said you hung out on scooobynet sometimes) You shouldn't own a performance car if you worry too much about the fuel bills!
Good luck with the car mate, very envious. I've spoken to Miguel myself a couple of times (top fella or what!?!)about an RX7 but the time is just not right yet, but when it is I'll be going to Miguel for it....

Definitely worthwhile going through Miguel, he is superb!!
Really knows his stuff, and spends a lot of time explaining bits.
Ill let you know how I get on with it, and if you're around any of the jap meets in the south here, you''d be welcome to come out for a passenger ride in it, all I have to endure is 2 more months waiting for it, and in that time im driving an, ahem, £500 Rover 820is, which isnt what id call quick, and the suspension is making me sea sick, I just keep saying to myself "two more months, two more months".
It should be quick enough to deal with any Focus RS's, Civic TR's, or Scoob WRX's, Evo 6 would be a good challenge thou ;0) but still recon for looks, the RX-7 has it in that battle too.

out of those it's gotta be the evo, the focus and civic are fwd, so you won't be able to run much more power, they struggle with it as it is. the impreza is too common, and if it's a new uk wrx it's tame compared to the evo 6 which is quicker and handles better. the evo 6 is the fastest point to point car around. i would love an evo 6 but as some people said an rx7 is stunning, rwd and has a fantastic (if unreliable) engine, not as quick point to point but it's still bloody quick.

RX-7, it looks and goes like a supercar, has unique and innovative engineering, doesnt look like a 4 door family saloon, is special to look at and drive, is extremely quick! (watch Best Motoring vids, quicker then GTR-34, Evo VI etc on track).
Also has the more purist rwd setup, and is easy to tune up.

Evo6 - too in ya face for me (just the standard rear wing and bonnet scoop on my MY99 Impreza are right on my limit - lol)
wrx - obviously a great car but I fancy a change so it's a no go
CTR - I've owned a VTec and never again. Great when you are in the mood but where did all the low down torque go ?
so.... collecting RS #320 on Monday

Chosen,
Can't really see the reasoning behind the list:
Civic Type R - FWD hot hatch
Focus RS - FWD good on track, not so good on road
Impreza WRX - 4WD, lowish power, softish suspension, good for everyday driving
Evo 6 - 4WD, harder more focused car to drive that still can seat 5 people and get your shopping in the boot.
RX7 - RWD, very nice to look at and drive but only 2 reasonable seats.
Therefore the choice depends on what you want.
Do you want a capable hot hatch - get the Civic
Do you want a good FWD track car - get the Focus
Do you want something with 4WD and easy to use everyday - Get the Impreza
Do you want something that will blow away most cars on B-roads/country lanes but can be a bit compromised for everyday driving - get the Evo
Do you want something that has RWD and looks very nice but has compromised practicality - get the RX7
Your choice

and they are very different costs- would you have a civic type R feature in a list with a "quick" fiesta?
always seemed odd that ppl compared the WRX with the EVO when there is about £10k between them?

Andy Mid: The CTR is iVTEC - not VTEC. This is different, it has twin zones. One for delivering low down power (runs up to around 4,500rpm I think) and then the 'proper' one that kicks in around 5,800rpm. This means that the CTR does have decent low down torque but that the VTEC kick - although noticeable and loud - isn't as violent as the ITR. Mind you, one thing I've noticed over 18k (against 32k in my Scooby) is that you're less likely to find yourself 'off the power' when cornering in the CTR against the Scooby. But of course that could be me
Back on topic though: If I could run a second car with my CTR (need a new car for work and wanted over 21mpg) then it would have to me an imported twin-turbo RX7 )

yeah u can always go for the alternative buy importing a r33 but with the engine missing cheap and buy the engine somewhere else. But this may lead to certain complications for example u won't have a manufacturers warranty. But its a risk to own such a respected car???
