EVO mag this month features a supercharged 540i with M5 plus levels of bhp/torque & performance.

Apparantly they are doing loads of 330i conversions giving 325bhp & more torque than an M3

A second hand 330i with the conversion looks very tempting.

Thumbs up

I've got an old copy of Fast Lane with a road test of a supercharged 325 -- from 170 to something like 240bhp. Proper job of the conversion, with intercooler etc. IIRC it was done by Sprintex but not sure. Looked very normal from the outside, good stealth modification.

Dont know the name of the converter (left the mag at home) but propper conversion with full 1 year warranty on it.
Think the 540i kit was something like £8500 fully fitted.

The interesting part was that they'd import a 540 or 330 to your spec - fit the kit and it'd still be cheaper than UK list. Class

Wink

Saw a supercharged 325i E30 on the track and it looked pretty quick. Sounded pretty good too.

Hmmmmm..... Sounds like the same car that was in Total BMW a few months back.

Is it a bright blue 540 ??

Its a Linden Special Vehicles car then. It doesnt have M5 power and torque, it has MORE THAN an M5 power and torque

*digs up mag*

Here we go -

Standard 540 = 286BHP @ 5400RPM, 325lb/ft @ 3500RPM

Standard M5 = 400BHP @ 6600 RPM, 370lb/ft @ 3800RPM

Supercharged 540 = 407BHP @ 5600RPM, 382lb/ft @ 2300RPM

More torque and power from waaaaaay low down

LSV can import the 540, add the kit and still sell it at the same price as UK dealers will sell the standard 540 !!!!

Cool

Saw the feature in Evo mag and thought that it looks like a bit of a beastie! I'll stick with my finer handling M5 though, and make do with a 7 bhp less and a few pounds of torque less.

No doubt the 540 could be tuned slightly higher, but I guess that LSV are being cautious. I like the bit about the warranty still remaining intact on parts not affected by the 'charger. Sounds great in principal, but reckon that BMW might see it differently.
