I would be sorely tempted for both, though with my recent trip to the Mitsubishi are at the rally, I am falling for the VII in a big way.
I suggest you go and test drive them to see.

Hey Loddrick - Get back on the Lancer board
I used to hate the looks of the 7, but it's definately growing on me. From what I've seen of the evo 8 so far - you must get one of those just for that bonnet (when it arrives)
cheers
Paul

Pound for Pound I think the 7 is the better car.
Its just as quick as the 6 (it has extra torque but extra weight)
Its also slightly cheaper to run apparantly & doesn't suffer from warped discs every few k miles !
Its much more rigid than the 6 too - so handles a little better, & as an every day car is easier to live with.
Needs to be the right colour though - black looks best IMO.
Like it says - the 7 is an evolution over the 6 so in theory it should be the better car.

Just to say the Evo 7 RS Sprint is the most awesome car I've driven, it utterly stomps all over the STi 7 Prodrive.
The Sprint has 320bhp, ballistic gear ratios, incredible steering, yet was significantly cheaper than the GSR. (26-27k new?)
No air con, electric windows, or ABS (not sure about AYC). Nice Recaros though.
Also bugger all sound proofing under the carpet and a firm ride, so its probably not suitable as a daily drive

The Evo 7 Extreme S is the best Evo you can get with a warranty. Just tell them to set the ECU right and you'll get a nice going Evo.
Other than that, Xtreme are currently testing stroker kits and turbos. Just wait a month or two and see what happens. Shall be over 450 ft/lbs and around 450 bhp. Faster than any Audi, Porsche or Ferrari (except the F40 and F50 of course).
