Needed to replace the Scoob with something more comfortable due to my wife's back problems.
Bought a Mondeo V6 GhiaX, performance and economy not bad but so bland and I missed the something special feeling.
After eight months bought a new imported Alfa 156 Selespeed Veloce. Never regreted the purchase although selespeed takes at least two months to totaly master. The lowered suspension and 16" wheels of the Veloce spec offer good compromise between sport and comfort.
After a couple of small mods I'm getting around 165bhp, the car weighs around 1200kgs so performance is entertaining. Handling is excellent, the best FWD chassis I've driven including the Civic Type R.
Some Pics...
Cheers

Rob16v:
Neither the Grale, MKII Escort or Scoob don't represent the best rally car of all time...
The MKII was nothing more than a very good execution of an old idea, coupled with an alarming ability to tailslide at ludicrous angles.
The Grale and Scoob - well, its unlikely they'd even exist, at least in their current form - were it not for a small company from Inglostadt...
The UR quattro is without doubt the greatest, and most influential rally car of all time. Full Stop.

I need to replace my broken UK my00 turbo. For me it was a great car and I would gladly own another but I can't help thinking I should try something else. Problem is I've no idea what...
I'll consider anything from a porsche 968 club sport through an Accord Type R to a big, quiet pre-owned BMW 7 series But then the thought that I might regret changing rears it's head. And classic shape imprezas are easy to find at good prices these days.
So what did folks on here replace their scooby with, why, and how do you feel now? Do you regret it, or are you happy?

Zax,
I replaced my MY01 with a '98 M3 Evo Coupe, no regrets so far but I'm not looking forward to snow and ice!
I swapped for many reasons, the main one being that I had always wanted an M3 and the right one came up locally, the px was ok....and the rest is history.
I think I may have px'ed at the right time as the second hand values are presumably now dropping due to the MY03 coming out.
Cheers,
Darren.

Replaced mine with a BMW M5. Lots of room for the family and doesn't draw too much attentention. Very comfortable with all the extra's you can imagine and is a very well built car.
It doesn't dart around the corners like the WRX did, but the engine is soooo smooth with a real kick at 4000 rpm.
I really enjoyed the Impreza but don't regret changing to the M5 at all.

I replaced mine with an Mitsi Evolution and dont regret it for a second.
Without getting into the boring old evo vs scoob debate, IMO The Evo is far superior.
I would buy a scoob again though, they are fantastic cars for the money.

Best thing i did to the scooby was sell it for this.
Knowing what i know now i don’t think i could be tempted by a scooby again, Seen so many poor drivers think they are good dude to the scooby, the westy SHOWS you how bad you are and makes a point of telling you. BUT. you just learn and improve and before you know it your no longer horrifically terrified of it, you just sort of scared Sh**less of it witch aint so bad
Oh yeh and bought a pants banger out of the 1500 quid SAVED on insurance
And tyres do about 10 million billion miles (small exaggeration)

Replaced my STI 5 with a BMW 330d Sport. Then changed that for a new Mini Cooper and a GTR 33 V-spec. Then decided to be sensible again, and bought a new 330d Sport.
Will probably be looking to change it for an E46 M3 or E39 M5 in March next year! Why can't I just keep hold of a car?! Aaaargh! LOL

I replaced my MY00 with a Audi S4 (330BHP 390lb/ft)....pace with refinement....
I actually regret selling my 944 Turbo to buy the Impreza in the first place!
Very unlikely that I'd have another one.

Replaced 2 Golf GTi's (Convertible and MKII) and Sti Wagon with. Porsche 996 C4 and BMW523i. Needed the best of both worlds as I had an STi wagon. I Miss Turbo kick in the pants but not much else, on reflection I wish I'd just got an M5 and an S3 as the Porker is really impractical but there you go.....still looks and sounds bloody good though

Pleasing to me as an M3 owner to see so many Ex Scoob owners getting BMWs after the Impreza. I like both BMW and Subaru - in different ways!
Espcially after all the stick they get on here

Crypt its a nice car but that colour is poser material and a police magnet .
Still slower than an RA as well
Oh Chris, you forgot to add your usual "small tank, silly servicing, hard suspension and crappy mpg" to your post.

Replacing UK 5-door with a Focus TDCi in a weeks time. Loved the Impreza but the mounting running costs outweighed the enjoyment so it has to go. Will be sadly missed as its the longest car I have ever had, 3 1/2 years.

Ibiza TDi Sport to be delivered next month.
I'm looking forward to 40+ MPG. 130bhp looks slow against the Scoob, but 225lb/ft torque gives a nice kick
£450+VAT gets you 180bhp and 305lb/ft. Time to go Clio 172 baiting...
