The type "R" was quicker (just) than the Scooby! yes the RS was quicker again but was un-drivable on anything other than a pool table surface!

Carlos I don't know what Inverness is like, but those types of roads don't exist in Fife. The road maintenance in Scotland is a joke!!
Has anyone driven one yet I can't beleive the diff can be that bad, surley that is a huge over site on Fords part. Makes you think why Autocar and the rest never really picked up on too much!

Thats the scary thing, you have to pay £20 000 to get a test drive cos there is no demos available, I for one would not be spending that amount of money on something I could not drive first.

Totally agree with Jackal the Focus would trounce the scoob on the majority of the UK's Roads. Rough potholed roads are not its forte but it still is a cracking car. Seems Clarkson couldnt even get the 0-100 right The Focus is in excess of 2 seconds quicker than the wrx.

I would rather have a car which went where I wanted it to go!
If you want to drive on Motorways & such all your life buy a ******* Vectra!

charlie if you want to be a big enough pratt to hammer round little country lanes with blind bends etc then you are a even more sad than a bug eyed wonder.
The Focus is a great car and I think Top Gear only went to prove that the subaru is really not all that especially in the handling dept.
LOL If you want a car that does 0 - 100 in over 18 like a wrx then buy a Vectra. You can only call the modern scoobs luke warm at very best lagging behind the majority of modern hot hatches.

As a former cosie owner and a potential Scoob owner I dont feel biased towards one or t'other, but Co55ie where do you plan to use a "performance" car if not on back roads, thats where drivers cars come into their own, and surprisingly no one has mentioned anything about the one thing that will redress the negligible (in the real world) difference between the 2 motors - a shower of rain!? with that diff on the focus I know which one I would prefer to be in unless you want to become better aqainted with the scenery, let the debate continue,

its funny how many ford owners on this SCOOBY site, why dont they stay on there on web site and talk about there 90s classic ford.
And Who gives a S**t if the focus is a bit farster than a bugeye.
my MY99 with a few tuning mods, makes all the right noises i love it to bits. Come on guys its a focus about as much street cred as a capri.

OK, So the WRX does 0-100 in 18 secs or whatever but my MY99 does it in 14.6 (for standard ) according to EVO mag and I still think the 18 secs is a little on the conservative side for the WRX anyway so......
Just thought I'd add a mature and generally "my cars faster than that comment" to keep this drudgery going

ah but sipie, according to EVO my RB5 will do 0-100 in 14.1 seconds, meaning that I will be hundreds of millimetres in front of you (assuming I thrash the pants off it and get a perfect launch, perfect gear changes etc).
As for the Focus RS, I think it looks lovely. Very nearly ordered one a few months back, except I couldnt get what I considered to be fairly important information - price for example!. Perhaps I am being naive, but if (as the reports suggest) the car is pretty dodgy on bumpy roads, could the driver not drive a bit slower. Surely a good driver is someone who recognises road conditions and drives accordingly, as opposed to someone with a lead right foot who just plants it everywhere???
Sorry - far too radical a suggestion. So, sipie - my car (in standard form) is faster than your car (in standard form). So there!

This could be muppetised very very quickly with the current people present
RB5320.... I think the focus looks not bad at all, but can you imagine looking at that blue steering wheel thingy all day
but then again, it would make interesting viewing as it would be spinning like a whirly gig as you try to control all that torque steer
Saxo Boy.... Who invited you to the party anyway Yeah you're car's faster (in capable hands ) but I've just been to the dentists and he's selling his EVO 6 and asked if I would like first refusal hhhhmmmmmmmmm, and it's the same blue as the scoob. Therefore I don't need to tell the insurance company as it's still blue That's how it works..... isn't it

I invited me I quote from last night at CM3 when driving the EVO, 'boring, boring, boring...just like real life' Then there are the running costs and the way you drive you'd be going through Active Yaw Control units every 1k!!! If you get one I want a shot though

Yeh I know Kenny, but.... when some young 24yr old comes on here saying their car is faster than yours then you gotta take drastic action to defend your male ego mate
In all sincerity..... it's done 46k, so not TOO interested although he was talking more realistic prices and it's due (i believe) a big service at 50k ,could be wrong as he wasn't certain himself, which also worried me a bit
The character of the scoob swings it for me and you are right I think they are pretty boring and ugly (especially from behind), bit like my ex then

I have neither a scooby or a ford.
Given the choice I would buy a scooby.
Focus really is a boy racer car. It should be 4WD to at least stand a chance of being a serious motor.
But there will always be a hardcore following for RSs. Which is fair enough, each to their own.
