I reckon £5k is the most difficult price to buy at because you rightly expect something half decent / fun / pleasant /reliable !

Is the Volvo V70 'cheap to run' ?

You could probably pick up a decent S70 T5 for that money. Recently traded in mine when changing to a 4X4(I know,I know) and got 5K for it. Not great on juice, probably getting 28-30 mpg but I don't think your scoobs are much better. Shed loads of room and a bit of oooomph to keep you happy.

I am in exactly the same boat as you, i currentlyhave this:

And unfortunatleyhave to part with it as i am racing in this:

I heard that Quentin Wilson highly recommended the Volvo 850 T5 apparantly you can pick one up for around £4-£5K with about 70-80K on the clock. They are supposed to be pretty bloody and are quite well eqipped. Alsolooked at Audi 2.6 V6 they're also pretty good. Honda Prelude 2.2i Vtec (i used to own one and they don't hang around either).

PS If you know anyone whoi may be interested in the Type R please can you let me know 07971 289581.

Cheers

Phiroze.
