OK no green wellie jokes please. Thinking of getting a 95 model estate version. I know history etc. Anyone got/had one? Would have preferred a Turbo Diesel but the one I have in mind is at a good price (£3250) and in good nic'. Any experience out there? Thanks, David.
Sorry please read 940 for 740 in title (how do you edit title??)

Mate has a 740 Turbo and its a bit of an old woofer, I had a T5 estate and its was loads better, the 740 is however fairly quick ,my mates was cos he is a mechanic and messed about with the boost and fueling and it was as quick (if not quicker) than my T5 !

Lots of info here on all Volvos, plus a handy BBS:

The 2.3 turbos are a VERY old-school car -- live axle rear end, high & wallowy to drive, and it doesn't handle. But great for carrying loads and simple A to B driving, especially on A roads and motorways.
The good news is that the motor is old tech -- robust and really easy to tune. No pissing around with remaps or ECUs -- just old-style Bosch injection and simple engine management -- big fun to be had with a bleed valve
IIRC stock boost pressure is about 8psi, I think this can be taken to 10-11psi with no problems. Volvos also have truck-size intercoolers, so there's a big margin for safety.

Thanks chaps. I am certainly not buying it as a fun drive car but rather something to lug and tow stuff for my small marquee hire business and as we may be moving soon I think it will be a good old workhorse for shifting kit and reasonably reliable. David
