Think there might have been a thread about this a while ago, so apologies in advance.
What engine has this thing got in it?

One tried to lose me from the lights last night. What a joker!!
He couldn't get his power down in 1st as we turned right at the lights (a la CTR!!) Then in second I had to lift off twice before I found myself sat in his boot. As for third - what a joke.
When will these boys learn - and apparently the Scoob is not fast in a straight line! This must only be described as downright mediocre then!

I'm not that surprised you left him
Here's the FTO models:

GS : 1800 16V (125BHP)
GR / GX SportsPackage : V6 2000 DOHC (180 BHP)
GP Version-R / GPX : 24V V6 2000 MIVEC DOHC (200BHP)

Lots of them come over with auto boxes as well which will
no doubt affect performance.

i think they are 2 litre v6's.

I ve seen loadfs but never ever seen one accelerate quickly. They are likely to be all show and little go, probably about 160-170 BHP.

Yep 2 litre V6. I actually considerd getting one of these for about 2 seconds untill I realised the quickest one you could get which is the GP Version R had a 0-60 of around 7 seconds and only 200 bhp. The automatics are even slower, something like 9 seconds to 60. My dad's Masda 626 1.8 glx is faster than this?? Nice enough looking car but I hate cars that are all show and no go.

Were you in a traffic jam - or driving past a dealership at the time. (or was my missus driving my Scooby, she never gets above 3000 rpm in any gear)

I used to have a manual GPX timed on an ap-22 as 6.3 0-60
First was useless, 2nd and 3rd were great. Played with numerous scoob's and was able to hold my head high.
They may not be blisteringly fast but it was by far the best handling 2wd car I've ever owned.

The mivec version (GPX and GPvR) were 197 bhp which is why they have trouble getting traction off the line

Yep like I said at the time I was considering getting one and read loads about how the handling was really good and I did in fact read a few reports of people doing 6 ish second 0-60's but official figures always said otherwise which is why I was a bit dubious.

Anyway, in the end went for a Type R with 300bp instead which is 4.5s so most other cars now seem quite slow by comparison. .

Don't know if the FTO's have much tuning potential though. Haven't really seen much stuff for them.

can't tune them that that much.

NOS is available tho

Once in the Mivec range it would out drag most cars

Mivec range, pah!
The only thing the mivec did was scare pedestrians!
Tuning potential is awful, after adding a stainless exhaust and air filter anything else actually reduced performance.

The major similarites I have noticed between the owners of FTO's and Scoobies is that we both think we own the fastest cars in the world

I almost bought an FTO but went for a Ford Puma instead which bfelt just as fast. Was quite dissapointed in the performance of the FTO though, but it was an auto

Wink

You can usually guess the owner of an FTO works in IT. You can't do that with Imprezas! :-P
