Sounds a good car to rival the S3.

I'm guessing at over 1400kg in weight and high 14's for the 1/4 mile.

Yep it sure looks nice. Definately a move in the right direction for VW. Let's hope it handles better than the GTI's.

Still I bit too lardy though I suspect. I mean I have seen quoted 0-60 times of about 6.5 seconds. Would expect more from a 3.2 litre car with 240 ish bhp.

I guess once you have driven a car which can do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds you get a bit spoilt.

All that weight in the front can't be too healthy for you handling though.. And I'm sure there is copyright on R32 that is a damn site quicker

Wink

It is gonna be a bit nose heavy. Having AWD will help, Wider track and running quite low is bound to help loads.

I do not think that it would be that pants !

I too would have expected it to be a bit quicker, either weight or traction being the problem maybe, still 6.2 secs was what I read elsewhere, not too tardy.

The 0-62mph figure is all very well but I would like to see more 40-60, 40-80 etc figures in tests, these are IMO more relevant in the real world, unless you take part in a lot of sprints, but that is not the real world is it?

It's still a Golf, and as such is aimed more at luxury/comfort than outright performance.

I have 4motion, and to be honest, it really is what I'd call an old man's car - with a bit of poke.
