Some quick advice from anyone who knows the ups and downs of this model..........
The other half wants to look at some at the weekend, especially a yellow S reg 1.6e with 35K on the clock....... going for £8500 private... I reckon more like £7250 after an independant inspection.

Had one of these as a hire car from work last year, I think it was a 1.6. Not bad as it goes, the roof works ok, it's nippy but definitely not fast. Trouble is when the roof is down you sit too high up and get blown about a bit. Handling wise....yawn... but that's not its reason for being - its for tarting around on nice sunny days - like today and at this it is pretty good for the money. The one I had had leather seats, CD player, Air Con so a reasonable spec...
I'd consider having one for the girlfriend as a second car but as you will have to live with it in winter with the roof up, visibility is pretty poor as it has a plastic rear window... Don't forget to drive it with the roof up for a bit before you make up your mind.
Don't know if that helped....it was a while ago!
Cheers

I had a 1.6 as a hire car as well. Was top spec, but not convertable. It was comfortable, quite well built, and there seemed to be a sensible amount of power for a 1.6. (Seemed to do plenty to the gallon as well. Plenty of electronics and toys as well...
The only thing was it didn't handle well (compared to the Peugeot 309 I had at the time ), although I'm putting that down in part to nasty cheap tyres.
