My mates got 1 of these and hes well pleased with it!
U get alot of car 4 the money, bin out in it meself a few times
and it seems 2 have every extra fords make.
Its more of a long distance cruiser than something u would thrash
down the A roads in.
Overall not 2 bad of a car 4 an old man.

Agree with previous comments.
Mate of mine had one, very comfy, V6 makes a decent noise as well. Plenty of toys. Colour makes a big difference, his dark blue looked good, but there's some stinking ones around.
If you go for it, there's a guy on the RSOC BB selling ST200 alloys for about £250 a set, would be a nice upgrade.
Oh and my mate, he traded up to an ST200, which is very nice.
Mike.

my dad has the ST24....not in the same league as my Scoob though.
his ST is a saloon...4door...early model and has no body kit on it, so looks very plain...a sheep in wolf clothing!!!
but they like it like that so it doesn't stand out in a crowd!
176bhp! 2.5 V6 24v
ST24 a lot more like a Limo!
try a ST24 or ST200 or ST220

I know little of ST24's but a collegue has one which has done 50k fully serviced by Ford and the Cambelt has just snapped and killed the engine His car is 00W and still warranteed, but worth noting - after a little research he has discovered that this is not uncommon.
Otherwise its a sensibly quick cheap car!

had one for 2 years.
lovely car - smooth, powerful and now cheap.
but as said above can be costly on parts
Ford wont even touch the engine internals,
they just ship a new one in from USA and fit it.
early cars had problems on Cats - they have two and are
blo0dy expensive.
I looked at buying a 29,000 mile FSH 1994 model last year
from Perrys - £3000
looked a good buy, until they checked they engine,
exhaust etc
and then refused to sell it to me as was going to cost
£2000 to put right.

a GhiaX 2.5 v6 24v is the same as a ST24...but...has more bits and bobs on it, like full leather...only differance is the sport suspension on the ST24.

And I had a ghia 24v V6. Same as the Ghia X but no leather
Had it for 2 years and 75000 miles. Was comfy, quick and a blast on the motorway. But it felt crap at 90000, like a bag of broken spanners. Motor was fine, felt as sweet as day one, but it was the rest of it.... Luckily was a company car, so it went anyway
Id have loved the ST24, and maybe now the 3.0l ST220 Ive seen in a mag...hmmm...shame the wife likes the scoob and wont get rid

I had a '98 2.5 Ghia that had done over 100k miles when I sold it in March..It never missed a beat and was good on fuel as well (sometimes up to 34mpg). You could also pull away in 4th doing 15mph and it would pull like a train...lovely torquey engines
The only thing i didnt like was the smelly heater. I sold if for £3100 with a full history. It was a lot of car for the money though and a lot better than my Pug diesel dog

My wife runs a Mondeo Si 24v V6 Estate.
Not a patch on the Scooby but good value all the same. We've had ours about 6 months, its a 98R 50k miles and I paid less than £4k. Not bad for a car with traction control, air con, electric seats etc.
AFAIK the Si, Ghia and ST24 all have the same 174BHP engine.

ahh, good old mondy ST24.
I had one before I got the scoob. Loved it loads, and I'm being serious!
I needed a family sized car and decided it looked smart, and it went pretty well. Compared to the blackbeast, the build quality is light years ahaead, but then the scooby is 8 or so years old, so that's to be expected.
the 2.5 engine was great, smooth and quiet. I did not have it for too long though, 8 months I think, because the scooby bug had bitten and I wanted, nay, NEEDED a scooby.
I do still miss the mondy today, as it wa a great car. I did even looking modding it, such ideas as supercharging or turbocharging it sprang to mind. Never did though.
A good car, and I'd prob have one as a second car, if it wasn't for the existance of the Skoda Octavia RS, mmmm.

My dad has a 99 2.5 Ghia X and its funny about the cambelt comment as they have a metal timing chain ( on the V6 duratec engine) which is not in the service schedule to be replaced. Local Ford dealer (which we didnt buy it off) said they are changed when they become a little noisy which normal mean in excess of 100K miles . Its a cracking motor and a spec a scoob can only dream of. If you put all the toys it has in a scoob it would cost 30k for a WRX. Performance wise its great for cruising and has a decent chassis and stereo .
