Am I the only one that finds these adverts hilarious?

"Interactive driving system" - the steering wheel perhaps?

And 'the indicators cancel themselves'
Didn't realise Vectra's came with indicators, thought they were an optional extra!!

Cool

@ AA, I must admit, when I first saw the advert my first thought was; Who is going to teach all the tw@ts that drive them to turn the indicators ON first

What makes me laff is they launched the new Vectra and said it had X amounts of improvements/things different from the old car and yet its still been panned and called crap.

Makes you wonder just how bad a car the first one was then!!!!

Don't they do this on most cars built since 1965

the best one is where he asks

...have you ever come across a car with corner brake control...

the answer

...no not on car of this type...

so then the answer was really,

yes, I have come accross a car with corner brake control.

"is your car a new piece of thinking?...."

that jury is thinking

a) what on earth are you on about?

b) ed, how desperate are you to be doing this cack advert

or

c) errrr, "not on a car of this type"....so does he mean yes?

Have they added the depreciation gauge, so you can see how quickly it loses money compared to other motors

cheers

Wink

Apollo 13 was a film about a space rocket that had room for 3 people and their luggage and cost millions of dollars to develop but wasn't very good at the end of the day - in fact it was downright unstable at times and the air-conditioning was over-eager at times.

Vauxhall Vectra is a car that has room for 4 people and their luggage and cost millions of pounds to develop but still isn't very good at the end of the day - in fact it needs corner brake control and the indicators are over-noisy at times.

Now - where is the similarity there then ?

Everytime I walk through my train station carpark I hear a massive "ker-ump" as though someone had reversed into my car - but no, it's just someone with a Vauxhall simply activating their central locking.

Indicators getting louder on a "busy motorway" tells me that the cabin noise in a Vectra is intrusive.

Sh!tboxes.

Repmobiles.

Hmmmm...

Seems to me like there's a lot of ill feeling here. Strange, since the new Vectra is so more technically advanced than the Impreza ever can be. Well, this century anyway.

Yup, it might not be to everyones tastes, or we'd all be driving the same motor, but what's the Scooby/Vectra beef?

As for comments on depreciation of the new Vectra, well, check out the *** low prices of Imprezas. STi 5 for £9k anyone?

Before you lot all cast your opinions, how many of you have even seen/touched/driven a new Vectra in anger? Not many, if any at all. So who are any of you to comment?

It's just another case of Scooby snobbery which gives all owners such a great image at the track days. Yawn.

The Vectra was actually praised for its lower cabin noise than the Mondeo and was generally equal to if not better than.. the new mondeo in all aspects. Like for like that is.

I for one do not like the new Vectra as it stands, nor do I like the adverts, but as far as tin boxes on wheels go the new Vectra still won it's class in What Car.

Carl, yes it *is* Ed Harris in the adverts. Unbelieveable.

As Bill Hicks said, if you're a famous artist or actor or musician, whatever, and you do an advert, you lose ALL artistic credibility and become just another ***** at the capitalist gang-bang.

LMFAO!!! That's the best case of Scooby snobbery ever chummy!!! "too right, you ain't getting me into one of em". Here's another shovel, sort a few more prejudices from Scooby land will yer!

I'd love to hear these cack reviews. Is that the same What Car? review which scored the Vectra better than the Mondeo and Laguna?

Jeeeeez... you're really funny.

Ok so when I drive my other halfs car (a Peugeot 106 1.1) or was driving my old cars (Pug 205 and 306) and say the same thing about the Vectra thats Peugeot snobbery then is it?

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT CAR I DRIVE OR OWN, IT IS A PERSONAL OPINION I AM ENTITLED TO AND IN ALL MY CAR LOVING DAYS I'VE ALWAYS SAID THE VECTRA DOESN'T CUT IT.

You are the one that makes me laugh, do you work for Vauxhall? Is that why your so defensive about it? lol!!

For the record, when I had my 2 Vectra's, I thought they were a million times better than the Mondeo I had previously. I hated the Mondeo with a passion. The Vectra was better built, drove better, looked better and was better equipped for the same money.

Magazine reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt, if you've driven one and hated it, fair enough, but otherwise it's all just hearsay. They are a bit ugly though (but not in the same league of ugliness as the current Scooby )

Well, I drive a Vectra. I have also had a go in a mates WRX whatever that's supposed to mean.

Vectra - smooth, refined, quiet, tidy, economical, enough power, smooth looking - or as my mate put it - "That's classy, doesn't look like a typical boy racer car".

WRX - rough, gearbox too clunky, noisy, rattly, horrid dashboard, horrid wheels, butt ugly.

I made my choice!!

Nah. I just fail to see how Jawa-boy can comment if he ain't even driven one?!?!

I don't work for Vauxhall, but I do think there's too many blinkered views about. How any one who drives a noisy, cheap, plastic, rattly, 4x4 farm vehicle can turn their nose up at anything in such a blinkered way defies belief. Still...

I can comment from my own personal point of view and opinions, as I have previously said. You weigh up the available evidence and make an opinion based on that, everybodies can differ.

The Vectra/Scooby are not in the same class so the two can not be compared - this thread is not a Scoob vs Vectra thread. They are both very different cars.

However, if I were in the market for the Vectra/Mondeo type car I would make my choice with a different manufacturer.

Its not blinkered either its a personal belief, I'm sure for everyone there is a car you have said you would never own..... I can't remember how many Vauxhall drivers I've ever come across that were totally blinkered towards Ford.

As for your opinions on Scoobs Noisy - yes, coz I chose to make it that way, cheap - I don't think so, not exactly cheap to buy or run (but depreciates less than a vecy - I mean jeez the old SRI's halved their value in just over a year ) rattly - yep, not many cars that don't have a single rattle, and farm vehicle - maybe some scoobs but hardly an Impreza turbo (in most cases).

Vectras are ****, horrible cars, along with 99% of everything Vauxhall have ever produced. It's not snobbery but an opinion. I'd rather walk.

leedsvectra - you actually chose a vectra ? Did you pay your own money for it - or tick the box marked 1.8LS on the company car sheet?

Jeez!
