Raced a Diablo !
#1
Er well, sort of
A34 bypass (very quiet Sunday night) in Wilmslow, minding my own in my old Golf GTI on the way to the gym, blonde girl in Diablo (with Diablo plate) goes past (I had seen it in my mirrors and decided to wait and have a look), as she pulls alongside she drops it down a gear and floors it !
I know it sounds like some kind of 14 year olds Athena poster or wet dream but it did happen !!
I knew these things were noisy but I couldnt get my head around how noisy, crackling, farting and burbling. The smell from it was amazing, I can only describe the smell as being similar to being at an airshow when the Red Arrows do the coloured smoke thing.
Gets to the next roundabout and has to stop, she goes for it again, so I give it all 116.8 bhp and have a go at (ahem) keeping up, it didnt dissapear cos I suspect ** mph was quite fast enough given the circumstances, couple of lads on sportsbikes (didnt catch what model, too fast !) didnt have the same problem and caned past, comes to the next roundabout and a grands worth of old Golf is actually quicker than a 10 ft wide 100 grand supercar when navigating a roundabout !
Normally I wouldnt bother, but she started it honest !

He's got a bright yellow Continental T as well, I've met that drifting (storming?) round the A34's roundabouts a couple of times. It is mightily impressive the way nearly three tonnes of gentlemans club can make a Legacy Turbo look as quick as a 1 litre Micra

I've a feeling he has a fair bit of property in a fair few places
TP a GTi will always keep up with a supercar when the driver sticks to the speed limit. Bozo

Test Pilot/mattstant, If you read my post, you will note my ironic tone.
I am fully aware that a 14 year old Golf GTI is not as fast as a 500 BHP Supercar, I am also aware that the driver of the Lambo could have dissapeared into the distance at the drop of a hat, however the driver seemed to just be having a bit of fun as was I. It was enjoyable to see one of the most impressive cars in the world driven with at least a little verve.
Dont get cocky about owning a Scoob, or look down your nose at Golf GTI drivers, They have a following for a good reason. you dont know anything about me, however I suspect that I have a better sense of humour than either of you and enjoy my driving more as I dont take it so seriously (when I am not at school that is)
Just biding my time on Scoob purchase you see, waiting for the right one to come along, now my house is paid off and I have no debts (at all), Ill keep the Golf cos its sentimental (I won it in 1988 when I was 18) and I think ill have a bike as well.
Just think when I get a Scoob I can take racing Diablos really seriously and it wont be such a crock. Or maybe not.

I was on the M23 to Hickstead on Sunday when a Diablo came up behind, I moved into the middle lane doing 85 and was stunned at the acceleration of the beast. At about 140 (not me) the Diablo passed a copper booking someone on the hard shoulder of the opposite direction. He had a long hard look !!!!!!!

Oh bu99er !! The missus has been showing off in the weekend toy again has she !? At least she didn't take my McLaren F1
Good noise ? Remember the opening credits scene on Cannonball Run.... similar ???
I don't know how anyone dare drive something that costs so much !! You'd be paranoid about flies landing on the windscreen never mind crashing it !!
I remember being in my brother's car on the M1 when we had a play with an XJ220. Those things are just ace !!
Ahhh.. one day.. now where's that lottery ticket ?

It makes a change for a supercar to be driven! normally they sit in the slow lane of the motorway at 70mph... whats the point?
Once when I was following a Ferrari 328GTS.. looks the same a Magnums 308.. in red (what other colour could it be) and
he was driving it fast.. still had to move over to let me past though.. in my Scooby.. joke.. I was on my bike.. he gave me the thumbs up as I went past at about 150mph.
That was before I stopped to think how stupid driving that speed is.

Maybe not. I heard that the Lambo engine note was a bit wimpy for the yanks and so it was redubbed with V8 rumble... or perhaps this is urban myth... or a different movie ? Anyone else confirm or deny?
