By an slk 230 coming down the slip road onto the m40 there was really nothing in it and they just got in front due to traffic, when we got on the m40 I passed them and it was two women I was in my 20 year old capri though how fast are those things? Can't find any performance info for them Nice looking women though

I raced one of these with two women in it also when I had the VTS. The acceleration in each gear was so identical it was unbelievable. However, no matter how quick I changed gear every time that auto shifted up it stole a meter so I lost 4-5m from 0-100!

Mark I think the 0-60 is wrong. Most places quote 7.2 for the 230K. 18 for the ton is about right though. You did well Paul considering you've got an old skool car

I am just a bit gutted now that I gave them the outside lane and booted it too late they were already charging when I saw them so I feel it could (and should) have been closer if not swinging my way. Oh well not bad I suppose, better than my puma would have done . Just wait til I see them again when I get my lancia back they will regret that I am really impressed with how well that capri goes though thought I would have them because of gear changes because the capri does 80 in second at 6,000 rpm then I got boxed in

The wheel bearing and the oil change is getting sorted on Tuesday. Poly bushes are getting sorted on a discount order and the Black Diamond discs and ferodo pads are winging their way to me now. The only thing I have to sort out accomodation. Which proving to be a little difficult. I will get somewhere though!

thats what I thought but they seem to be stupidly geared and other people have said this too had 110 mph in third at 6,000 rpm too last night got no real idea what it does after that because it starts getting scarey had 125 in fourth but that wasn't pushing it much. Makes a change to the puma that can only manage 78 in third takes longer to get there too oh and nearly 50mph in first is acheivable on a 2.8 capri they are scarey cars even today and I am used to very fast cars

My SLk320 was a manual 6 speed and wasnea to bad. My Auto clk430 is crackers - solid acceleration between 70 and 150.
Bit like driving a couch though - that's why I get me hands on a scooby tomorrow - already been down the local ICE dealer and been drooling over some alpines

Have you done any engine mods to your 2.8. I,ve only got a k&n filter and perfomance mainfolds and exhausts on mine an 86 special, for approx 20 bhp gain on the rollers. The gearing is wild even on the 5 speed and the 0 to 60 time seems/is a lot quicker than 8 seconds - I also own a my96 Scooby turbo so I know what a quck car should feel like, and the Capri is definitely no slouch, just a tad more interesting to drive in the wet, though i am led to believe an A frame on the back suspension should help.

there was a good article in Classic Ford about their project car. They uprated the suspension: shocks, springs, bushes and fitted an A frame. They said it transformed the car. Didn't cost much either.

Paul & Astra, I have just fitted a set of compression struts to the front of my XR4x4, removing the front anti-roll bar in the process. The difference in both the handling and the braking is unbelievable, you get a little more noise from the rose-joints, but it isn't unbearable.

I haven't seen the pictures of the capri, if you point me in the right direction I'll take a look. Have you retained the standard cast manifolds, as I believe these may be slighltly restrictive, compared to tubular two into one types. I can't remember if Janspeed made these for the 2.8. I havent had my Capri on the road now for nearly two years except to move under trade plates to my new address, however I plan to get it back on the road later on in the summer.
